Week of 9/26

Here are our updates for this coming week:

Math: Unit 1: Geometry– lines, angles, shapes.

Quiz this week.

 

ELA: Unit 1: Folktales– learning about the genre of Folktales and the predictable patterns they follow including myths & fairy tales.

 

Writing: Unit 1: Narrative– writing stories that are in the Folktales genre.

District writing exam this week. 

 

Science: Unit 1: Matter– identifying that all items are made of matter and can be classified as a solid, liquid or gas.

 

Social Studies: Unit 1: Geography– What questions would a geographer ask? 5 Themes of geography: 1. Location, 2. Movement, 3. Human/Environment Interaction, 4. Place, 5. Region.

Quiz this week on map skills.

 

Spelling: words will be posted under the “Weekly Spelling Words” tab.

Greetings Families!

 

Thank you to all the families that came to Open House, it was so nice to meet so many people!

Welcome to Mrs. Brady’s Class!

Students-

Are you as excited as I am to start school!? Most of you should have gotten your postcards in the mail this weekend. If I’m fortunate enough to have you in my class this year, lets hear from you! Leave a comment below telling us your name and your favorite summer activity!

Don’t forget to check out the supply list that is post on August 9th! I can’t wait to see you on Tuesday! 🙂 Don’t worry if you don’t have your supplies on Tuesday, we’ll talk more in class 🙂

 

 

Don’t be surprised when your comment doesn’t pop-up instantly, each comment has to be approved before it shows up. You only need to comment once. 

Keep an eye out for papers!

Students emptied their mailboxes today, so there are a lot of papers coming home!

 

Keep an eye out for the yellow-gold paper with many FREE events and activities around Dearborn and the calendar that was sent home with the activities for the next 6 school days.

S.T.E.M. supplies needed

We are in need of supplies for a few end of the year S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) projects.

 

Roller Coaster Creation

  • Small plastic cups (no Styrofoam)
  • Paper plates (no Styrofoam)
  • Tape (10-15 rolls of clear/transparent tape)

Glider Creation 

  • Plastic Straws
  • Tape

Marshmallow Catapult 

  • Marshmallows (don’t need to be Halal, we’re not eating them)
  • Rubber bands
  • Tape

Skyscraper Challenge 

  • Tape

Please comment if you’re able to donate, we would love to be able to do these 4 super cool projects the last few days of school! We would like donations no later than Thursday 🙂

 

Donations are not required, only requested. 

End of Year Celebration TOMORROW!!!!

The students voted to have our end of year celebration tomorrow, 6/3 in the morning because of Ramadan starting next week.

Please send in food & drink items to share with 27 students. Student will not be allowed to call home for donations tomorrow.

You may also bring games, chalk, bubbles, etc. to have fun with outside.
