Good Afternoon EF Band, Orchestra, & Piano Students,
Many students have e-mailed me regarding grades. Here is the district-wide grading policy:
75% or better = A
60% – 74% = G (credit, does not count towards your GPA)
Below 60% = N (no credit)
All assignments that were up to date yesterday morning have been graded. If you did not complete assignments or did not begin remote learning coursework until this week, it will be graded over the weekend. Please remember that assignments were never intended to be completed in a one week period. One assignment per week was required with a due date of the following Sunday.
Please note that it is imperative that you communicate with your teachers and Edsel Ford administration if your family has faced a hardship due to COVID-19. As a school, we need to understand where you’re coming from and if there have been circumstances beyond your control. We are here to help you, but I am seriously unable to read minds or peer into your house via computer.
I encourage you to check which assignments that have been graded on Student Connect. You may check as often as you like, but give both myself and your other teachers a chance to do that. If you completed assignments after I called or e-mailed you individually to notify that you/your child was at-risk of failing, they will be graded over the weekend.
The window of opportunity for most assignments is closed. I honestly spent 14 hours today accepting late assignments and a ridiculous amount of attempts to bargain for grades. Please do not attempt to bargain with me. This was truly the bare minimum of expectations I asked of all the classes and you had since March to accomplish them. IF I accept any more late work, it will probably not be given full credit (and please don’t ask me to reduce the requirements), but better to take a chance and submit your work than not. I have seen excellent effort from many of you and absolutely nothing from others. Prove to me you can show up in the responsibility department.
I can assure you that I will be going through each individual grade with a ‘fine tooth comb.’ I will do my best to notify you over the weekend if anything appears to be wrong.
For those of you who did the work, good job! I hope you learned a few things and had fun doing some of the activities and gained skills from others!
I am now going to sleep. Have a good weekend. I will have one more set of Class Meetings on Monday to tie up loose ends, talk about summer enrichment possibilities and what we may plan for in the fall.
Have a great weekend!
