Section 1.3 Study Guide

Hey everyone,

I had mentioned to you in class that because Section 1.3 was so short, I would not be providing a summary or a study guide to work on. However, that did not stop a student from creating their own and offering to share it with everyone else. So, thank you to Alyssa H for putting together this guide!

Thanks Alyssa

Wednesday, February 3rd Homework

Hey ladies and gentlemen,

Let me start out by saying I was incredibly impressed with some of the ideas and discussion you came up with today. It truly shows that you are thinking about science, not just memorizing!

Remember, today’s homework is to be done on PAGE 36A in you Notebooks.

You need to arrange each level from smallest to largest. After doing so, be sure to match the correct definition with the word. Lastly, you need to match the correct example with each definition.

If you lost your paper, you can find a copy of it HERE.

As always, email me with any questions.

Cell Organelle Constructed Response

Hello students,

I want everyone to enjoy their weekend, but do not forget you have your 2 paragraph constructed responses that you need to begin working on. The final paper will be due on Wednesday, January 27th.

I hope to use this blog post to give you a step by step guide on how to work toward your end product.

*FIRST*

You will want to complete This Sheet to help you organize ideas. Remember, for this sheet I want everyone to choose 6 organelles and make a real world connection for each one.

This part of your assignment needs to be completed by Monday, January 25th

*SECOND*

Upon completing the organization worksheet, you need to choose 2 organelles to write your constructed response about.

Each organelle comparison should be written in one paragraph. This will give you a total of TWO paragraphs for your assignment, one for each chosen organelle.

Instructions can be found here.

Please make sure your spelling and grammar is correct. Although this is a Science assignment, it is also writing and I will be grading as such.

However, the primary score for this assignment is still going to be based on your scientific knowledge. I simple rubric showing the scoring system can be found here.

*NOTE*

Although we started working on ideas in class, I have had students ask me for a sample paragraph.

As an example, HERE is a pretty good comparison of a nucleus to a heart provided by a student in class. Please do not copy this student’s work, there will be consequences!

*CLOSING*

Please, do not stress about this assignment, it is a simple 2 paragraphs of your own ideas. You are not required to cite any sources, as it should all be your own independent thoughts.

Remember, this is due on Wednesday, January 27th.

I want to include these scores on your third card marking report cards, and need to be given time to grade them.

Please contact me with any questions. As always, email me directly for the fastest response.
