Students, for those of you curious about how your grade will look for the 3rd card marking, I encourage you to check Student Connect this evening around 4pm. I should have everything put in that you have done up until this point. If you have any questions please email me directly, the Blog notifications make it more difficult to have a conversation.

Cell Organelle Constructed Response
Hello students,
I want everyone to enjoy their weekend, but do not forget you have your 2 paragraph constructed responses that you need to begin working on. The final paper will be due on Wednesday, January 27th.
I hope to use this blog post to give you a step by step guide on how to work toward your end product.
*FIRST*
You will want to complete This Sheet to help you organize ideas. Remember, for this sheet I want everyone to choose 6 organelles and make a real world connection for each one.
This part of your assignment needs to be completed by Monday, January 25th
*SECOND*
Upon completing the organization worksheet, you need to choose 2 organelles to write your constructed response about.
Each organelle comparison should be written in one paragraph. This will give you a total of TWO paragraphs for your assignment, one for each chosen organelle.
Instructions can be found here.
Please make sure your spelling and grammar is correct. Although this is a Science assignment, it is also writing and I will be grading as such.
However, the primary score for this assignment is still going to be based on your scientific knowledge. I simple rubric showing the scoring system can be found here.
*NOTE*
Although we started working on ideas in class, I have had students ask me for a sample paragraph.
As an example, HERE is a pretty good comparison of a nucleus to a heart provided by a student in class. Please do not copy this student’s work, there will be consequences!
*CLOSING*
Please, do not stress about this assignment, it is a simple 2 paragraphs of your own ideas. You are not required to cite any sources, as it should all be your own independent thoughts.
Remember, this is due on Wednesday, January 27th.
I want to include these scores on your third card marking report cards, and need to be given time to grade them.
Please contact me with any questions. As always, email me directly for the fastest response.

CellsAlive.com project
Students,
Remember to continue working on your “CellsAlive” worksheets. You will need to have access to the internet to work on this assignment.
THIS IS DUE ON FRIDAY JANUARY 22
Remember to click on each cell type underneath “Interactive Cell Models.” If you need help, I can link each cell below.
Animal/Plant Cell (Switch Between Animal and Plant at the bottom of the window)
Remember, for each organelle you are only summarizing it’s function, bot copying the whole description.
If you were absent or lost your paper, you can find it below.
Please email me with any questions!

Monday, January 4, 2016 Quick Post
Hello families and Happy New Year!
I just wanted to clarify the test scores that your child will be brings home today.
On the paper it will say their number correct over 20 possible. This is because of the 20 questions on the test. However, I only scored it out of a total of 15 points, due to the difficulty of some of the questions. If you see a score of 15/20, it is treated as a 15/15 or 100%. Likewise, a 12/20 is only treated as a 12/15 or an 80%. If you are curious about their actual score, you may check either the online grade book (link to the right) or just divide their number correct out of 15.
If you have any questions, pleas email me.
