First, allow me to say I am sorry! It has been quite awhile since I have updated my blog, it seems to have gotten away from me!
We have officially started the second semester, you are half-way there guys!
Even though it seems far off, we need to start looking at our science projects. The actual Science Fair will not be until May 18th, your projects will be due a couple of days before that. I need to make sure everyone is staying caught up on their projects so you are not scrambling to put something together in May.
Your ideas are due tomorrow, on the sheet of paper you were given last week. On the sheet is also the rubric you will be graded on in May, if you want an A, that’s how you will earn it.
There is a copy of this form and rubric HERE

Hello students,
This is the website you will need to access in order to work on today’s assignment.
https://www.history-of-the-microscope.org/
If this does not work, try searching “History of the Microscope” on Google.
For students who are absent, the worksheet can be found HERE

Students, here is the PowerPoint explaining what a science fair project should include.
Please remember, you may work with ONE other student in either Duquette’s or Bailey’s Science class.
BY JANUARY you should have come up with a topic that you would like to do for your experiment.

- Difference between metals, metalloids and nonmetals
- Parts of the Periodic Table (Groups, Periods, Atomic Number)

- Scientific Method
Use your ISN, book, and worksheets to review the information. We will review in class next week also.
Have a great weekend,
Mr. Bailey

Students,
Some of you asked that I put the information for the inside of the foldable on the blog. Of course I will do that for you!
In the first section you need to write how many protons your element has (complete sentence).
The Second portion is to find 5 characteristics or properties of your element.
Third section should have at least 2 real world uses for your element.
In your last section, write the number of protons and neutrons that make up the nucleus of your atom.

Hey everyone,
For those of you who were in class today, I started talking about, and assigned, your Atomic Model project. This project will be treated as a summative grade of 15 points.
HERE is a copy of the assignment and rubric
If you are struggling to come up with ideas, a simple Google search of “Home made atom models” may help to get your brain juice flowing!
REMEMBER, while food based models can be an option, please run the idea by me first! Any food brought needs to be taken care of by the end of the school day!

I have had a number of students ask if they could take Geico home over the upcoming Holiday break. I decided to make an online survey for those interested to fill out. this can help me with finding a good fit!

For the PBIS Celebration in December, we will be showing different movies in our classrooms. We want you to come up with ideas for movies to watch.
They can be holiday themed, or not, the choice is yours.
These movies cannot have a rating higher than PG and we will be sending home permission slips.

Howdy folks,
I wanted to give you the chance to go over the powerpoint we did in class for review. You will need to PowerPoint program to be able to view this.

I have also had students ask where to study in their ISN. Your best bet would be to look starting on page 10A with the Illustrated Dictionary of 8 Chemical Properties!
