March 14

The DOvall Club is hoping to collect all your spare change to help children with cancer through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Since 1993, students and educators throughout the United States and Canada have raised more than $288 million. Here at DuVall we are in our 5th year of campaigning and have raised over $5 thousand dollars! We collected $800 hundred dollars last year and we are hoping to beat that amount this year, so please help us achieve our goal! We are collecting all change and dollars until Friday, March 18th. Your child can bring in the collection box that was sent home or even in a ziploc bag, any amount counts and can make a difference in the lives of children with cancer.

Thank You!

This Week’s Spelling

Hi families,

This week, 1/2 the students will retake lats week’s test because they did not pass it. I will then average the two grades and that is what the child will get on their test. The other students will pick their own list and only have 10 words. Please continue to practice spelling weekly, their writing is important and the words that we practice should transfer into their writing.

Thank you

Science

Hi Families!

We had our “light” test this afternoon, and we finished the unit with a fun experiment. If your child does it at home, please leave a note under this post and they will earn 2 bonus points on their assessment. The experiment is about Reflections, and concave vs convex images. All you need is a shiny spoon. For more fun and exciting light experiments please visit monsterscience.com. Next week we will begin our sound unit and will conduct many experiments. Tune into our science page where I will be posting more pictures.

Thank you!

First Grade Market Day

The first grade students have been studying economics.  They have worked hard as producers to create goods to sell to our DuVall School consumers!

They will be selling their items on Wednesday, February 10, 2016.  All items will cost only 25 cents.  All of their “income” will be donated to the DoVall club to support the “Adopt an Animal” project.

They would appreciate our support and would like to thank us in advance. If you could send your child in with a quarter on Wednesday that would be great.

Thanks!
