PTA NEWS

I know many of you are on the PTA blog, but those of you who are not I wanting to share this with you.

Good morning! We hope this email finds you and your family healthy and safe.  It’s hard to believe that we are almost to May!  Hopefully that means we are headed towards better weather and lots of opportunities to get outside.  May also means we are coming up on Teacher Appreciation Week!  Now more than ever, we would like to thank our teachers and recognize them for all the passion and hard work they have put into this school year and remote learning.  We wanted to share with you our PTA’s plans for Teacher Appreciation Week and also ask for your help with an easy task or two to show your appreciation to our awesome teachers! We know one thing our teachers would really love is to see photos of their students.  We would like to invite each student to make a poster or sign to express thank you to our teachers and staff and take a photo with their sign.  We will be compiling all the photos in a slideshow set to music that can be shared with all our teachers and students.  In order to get the slideshow put together, we will need your photo(s) submitted by this Friday, May 1.  Please don’t miss the deadline- we don’t want to leave anyone out!  Instructions:

  • The sign can be for their individual teacher, all teachers in general, or whoever they would like to recognize.  Don’t forget art, music, gym, support staff, Mr. Attee, etc.- it would be great to recognize everyone and make them feel appreciated.  You can take individual photos or sibling group photos- be as creative as you want.
  • There are two ways you can share the picture(s) to have them published in the video.  The easiest is to upload your photo directly to Robbin Makled’s Amazon share site using this link:

https://www.amazon.com/photos/groups/share/qAIvyo7FRRiAj3-RFytBZA.0vsQG4jKWeyr3E3QNLNz0J If you are unable to upload via the link, you can email the photo to Robbin.Tenglin@gmail.com

  • Please be sure your photos are received by this Friday, May 1 so that we can make a great video, include everyone, and make sure our teachers know how much we appreciate them!

Other Teacher Appreciation Week Activities:Our PTA is also working hard on other activities and initiatives to recognize our teachers virtually:

  • Monday, May 4- Our teachers will be receiving a restaurant e-gift card via email.
  • Tuesday, May 5- Dress up as your favorite teacher and share them to the DuVall PTA facebook page.  Be as silly and creative as you like!
  • Wednesday, May 6- Supplies for teachers!  We will be providing teachers with some of their favorite school supplies!
  • Thursday, May 7- A surprise giftcard by email for our hardworking teachers!
  • Friday, May 8- Our appreciation video for teachers will be sent out to our whole school to enjoy!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at breannagross7@gmail.com. Kind regards, Breanna GrossDuVall PTA

Remote Learning Week 6

All assignments are in Google Classroom. Check your child’s classes daily. All instructions and assignments will go live tomorrow morning at 8:00am. I suggest that you do Social Studies Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please do Science Tuesday and Thursday. Math and Reading are still daily. Writing should be started on Monday. Spelling City is optional and I am leaving the current list for one more week.

Tip for Writing: When you get into your “Writing Google Classroom” read the assignment first. The books are linked into them. Watch them. The writing assignment will be in the top right corner as a google doc. When you are done you can click on the “turn in” button.

Please check out the special area teacher’s blogs. They are posting assignments now, that the kids need to do. Suggestion from a Mom, do one special a day. Art – Monday, Gym Tuesday, Music Wednesday, Media – Thursday. I tried it this past week with Juliette and it made it slightly less overwhelming. Slightly.

Good News! We are working on a plan to get your math workbooks. More information on that tomorrow after my staff meeting. When I know the date I encourage you to come to the pick up so that you will have books in hand.

Finally, I will keep you informed on our google meeting Tuesday. There is an open investigation regarding inappropriate conduct during a middle school session. If we have a meeting I will let you know tomorrow.

As always, you are all amazing! I had 100% participation last week and proudly filled out the “student attendance of work” for Mr. Attee. Let’s keep it up. I know we are all working so hard and keep telling yourselves “We can do this.” Because, frankly, we can and we are. We are adaptable because we have to be. So, hug your babies for me. I miss them, our classroom and our routine. I miss snack time, Harry Potter activities, recess, smiles, laughs, hugs, tying shoes, holding tiny hands down the hallway, singing with them, reading groups, math pages, stamping my stamper lol.

Finally, I apologize for all the changes but at least this week you just have to go to your kid’s google classroom to read directions! Progress:)

Stay safe, stay healthy and keep the pictures coming!

New Meeting today at 2:00…

No more “Zoom” meetings aloud for our school. Unfortunately there have been some issues with privacy. So, for tomorrow’s meeting, please go to the Google Classroom for Reading and Writing (with my dog Sam on it). There will be a link in the picture with the dog on it. and click on the link tomorrow at 2:00. IT IS NOT THERE YET because I don’t want the students meeting before I am there. Thank you! If you have an issue tomorrow, please email me. I will try this technology tomorrow .

Remember to sign up for Epic (code is jpw8634)

Great job on readworks! Some of you have forgotten to submit your answers. Please check that tonight or tomorrow morning.

I appreciate you!
