Happy Friday!

Our week at a glance:

Reading: we are concentrating on main ideas and supporting details. we are focusing on comprehension and writing proper “constructed responses” with supporting details from the text.

Science: Force and Motion We completed two experiments already and will do a magnetism lab next week.

Social Studies: we are wrapping up our Geography unit and concentrating on human interactions with land. (modifying vs. adapting to environments)

Writing: We launched opinion writing and wrote about Skittles vs. Kit Kats. We began by following this format:

In my opinion, I think __________ is the better candy. It is better because (reason 1), (reason 2) and (reason 3). First, (restate reason 1 and give explanation). Next, (restate reason 2 and give explanation). Finally, (restate reason 3 and give explanation). For these reasons, this is why I feel ___________ is the better candy.

Finally, thank you to everyone who helped us get to the movies, we couldn’t have done it without your help. I appreciate you! Due to the field trip and a new thing we are launching at the end of the day on Fridays, we did not get to our spelling test. We simply ran out of time.

Thursday: Next week will be our Halloween party on Thursday afternoon. Please send your child’s costume in a bag, they will change in the afternoon after lunch.

OPERATION Desert Angel

For many years we have been collecting extra Halloween candy and sending it to the troops. This year we are also collecting donations for Desert Angel. What this means to you is that each classroom will be collecting goods that will be sent overseas to service troops that are serving our country.  We will begin collecting NOW. All items need to be collected by October 30th. Thanks in advance!

for 3rd Grade Math students only…

FRIDAY WILL BE BE END OF THE MODULE ASSESSMENT FOR THIRD GRADE! Students started to work on the review last night. We will be doing a new review together in class that will be an even better review for the test. This one I feel, has better wording, more closely mirrors the actual assessment. The first one the students started can also be used as extra practice problems along with any exit tickets or quizzes.

Thank you! Mrs. Alabakoff and Mrs. Morrison
