April PBIS

Haigh Families,

Next Wednesday, April 26th, we will be hosting our second annual HAIGH CARNIVAL for our April PBIS celebration. Students who have maintained positive behavior will have the opportunity to attend the carnival and play some awesome games and even win some prizes!

However, the event can only be a success with your help and donations. Below is a list of items that we are in need of for our celebration. If you are able to contribute or donate in any way, it would be GREATLY appreciated. You can turn in all donations to your child’s teacher.

We are asking that donations be turned in by Monday, April 24th.

  • Empty cardboard boxes (all sizes and shapes needed)
  • Hershey’s Kisses
  • Washable tattoos
  • DumDum suckers
  • Fake frogs (rubber/silicone)
  • Solo cups
  • Cotton Candy buckets (Wal-Mart?)

This is a whole school event, so we will need as many donations as possible (we have almost 500 students!).

We are also in need of volunteers to help run stations at the carnival. If you are able to volunteer your time, it would also be appreciated. The time slots are as follows:

A.M. session – 8:50-11:30                          P.M. session – 1:30-3:15

We need 7 A.M. volunteers and 7 P.M. volunteers. If you are able to volunteer, please e-mail Ms. Otto at ottoc@dearbornschools.org to sign-up 🙂

Thank you for all of your help and continued support!

M-Step

M-Step starts today! I hope everyone got a good night’s sleep! We will be doing the reading test today and tomorrow. Students will have as much time as they need.

On M-Step days, we will have lunch at 12:45 which is MUCH later than our normal lunch time. Some parents are going to be providing a breakfast snack for the morning. Thank you so much volunteers! I will also let students have their own snack in the morning when we finish testing if they would like. Additionally, our specials are switched to the afternoon on M-Step days. This way there is no interruptions in our testing 🙂

Everyone is going to do great! Don’t stress, just remind your students to try their best!

PBIS Celebrations

Dear Families,

On March 29 we will be having a PBIS celebration to recognize your child’s positive behavior. This month’s celebration theme will be GAMES! Your child may bring board games to school.

Please label everything with your name. This celebration is an opportunity for students to have fun and play games with each other. However, if you are concerned about an item being shared with other students we recommend that it stays at home.

Thank you,

Haigh PBIS Committee

M-Step

As I am sure the students have told you, M-Step is starting the week after spring break. In class we have began some practice tests and practice performance tasks, which are long multi-step story problems. All of the material we are covering during the practice is 5th grade common core material. Some of the practice might be more difficult for students, but this is the type of material they could see on the M-Step. However, do not panic! The practices do not count toward report card grades and I know it is a bit more difficult. If you would like your student to do additional practice at home they can at  https://wbte.drcedirect.com/MI/portals/mi/

Last year during M-Step we had parents provide a small healthy breakfast of the days of testing. This helped students stay energized and gave them a little something to look forward to. If anyone would be willing to bring in breakfast one day for the class please email me and I will put together a schedule.

Thanks!

Miss Wilson
