Conferences

Good Afternoon!

This is a reminder that conferences begin tomorrow! If your conference is tomorrow your student should have come home with a green reminder paper. Conferences are also next week Wednesday and Thursday; reminders will go home on Friday for next week. If you did not have a chance to sign up for a conference I signed you up for next week during one of the available times.

In 5th grade our conferences are student led. Your student MUST be at the conference with you. Please let me know if you there are time conflicts by emailing me wilsonm@dearbornschools.org

Thank you!

Miss Wilson

Halloween

We will be having our Halloween party in the afternoon on Halloween, Tuesday October 31st. Students may wear their costumes to school. Remember no masks or weapons. The costume parade will be around the outside of the school at 2:30. Parents are welcome to come to the parade. The Halloween Committee (Maria, Emily, Hannah, Eloise, Malik and Alan) will be providing everything we need for our party 🙂 Students may bring candy to pass out if they would like.

Book Orders

Class Code – NMXPH

Order Due Date – 10/13/2017

Dear Families,

I want your child to be a successful reader—and for that, I need your help.

When children choose their own books to read for pleasure, they enjoy reading more and spend more time doing it. The more your child reads, the better they will do in school and in life.

Scholastic Book Clubs flyers are made for you and your child to shop for books your child will love to read. Each month, the flyers are filled with trusted, excellent quality, age-appropriate books chosen by Scholastic for prices as low as one dollar.

Plus you will be helping our class when you order: Scholastic matches each order you place with FREE BOOKS for our classroom to share.

Thank you for helping your child become a successful reader.

Sincerely,

Miss. Wilson

Please place your online order to me by 10/13/17.

NWEA

NWEA testing has begun! In fifth grade we take ELA, Reading, Math and science. We will test for about 45 minutes a day a couple of days a week for the next few weeks to get them done. Remind students just to try their best and it is only the first test of the year so they are going to improve!

Don’t we look excited about testing!?

Reading Logs

Last week students should have brought home a September reading log in their folder. Students are expected to read 30 min a night M-Th and one time over the weekend. As a class we set a goal of 540 minutes for September. If they reach their goal and have their parent sign their log daily, students will get to have lunch with me and a special treat at the end of the month! It is expected that all students do their 30 minutes of reading, however, those who are responsible with getting it signed and meeting or exceeding the goal will get the special treat 🙂

Happy reading!
