NWEA

NWEA testing has begun! In fifth grade we take ELA, Reading, Math and science. We will test for about 45 minutes a day a couple of days a week for the next few weeks to get them done. Remind students just to try their best and it is only the first test of the year so they are going to improve!

Don’t we look excited about testing!?

Reading Logs

Last week students should have brought home a September reading log in their folder. Students are expected to read 30 min a night M-Th and one time over the weekend. As a class we set a goal of 540 minutes for September. If they reach their goal and have their parent sign their log daily, students will get to have lunch with me and a special treat at the end of the month! It is expected that all students do their 30 minutes of reading, however, those who are responsible with getting it signed and meeting or exceeding the goal will get the special treat 🙂

Happy reading!

Field Day

Dear Parents and Guardians,

To help us celebrate another fantastic school year, we will be having Field Day on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.  For this Field Day event students will work through stations with their class to develop skills they have learned in physical education and have tons of fun!  The schedule for the event is as follows:

9:00 AM – 11:00 AM Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grades

11:30 AM – 12:30 PM All School Picnic

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades

On May 24, students need to wear clothes that will allow them to be physically active outside, including tennis shoes.  They need to bring a water bottle.  There will be a station to refill bottles if needed.  Students are highly encouraged to bring a bagged lunch to enjoy at the all school picnic.  They are welcome to bring a towel or blanket to sit on as well.  Students will be able to purchase school lunch if necessary.

We are looking for one parent from each classroom to donate a treat for the entire class to enjoy after their session.  Please contact your child’s classroom teacher if you are interested in proving a treat.

Lastly, we need 15 parent volunteers for both sessions to help run stations.  If you are interested in volunteering, fill out the lower portion and return it to Mr. Peecher.  Please, contact Mr. Peecher with any questions.

Thanks!  The PBIS/Field Day Committee  peeches@dearbornschools.org

*We will only be able to accommodate students & parent volunteers for this event.

End of the Year Privileges

This is a friendly reminder that our end of the year activities are privileges. Camp, Pool Party, and Promotion are all things that students earn. Many students have checked out because it is the end of the year and we still have a lot of learning to do! Luckily testing is over this week and when we get back from camp we get to return to our normal schedule! I hope that everyone can take the end of the year seriously and do their best.
