Update

Wow! These last two weeks have flown by! As I am sure your students have told you, I have unfortunately been out for a few days at district meetings. As much as I don’t like being out of the classroom I have learned some awesome new ideas for math and writing 😀 I am also very happy to say that Ms. Mann will be back to support our students on Tuesday! Her son was in a car accident so she has been out taking care of him. He is doing well so she will be back with us 🙂

On Wednesday, we will have a math test on Multiplication and Division, your students will be coming home with a practice test to study today. We will also be finishing up NWEA testing next week. Make sure your students get lots of rest! Once the students finish all 4 tests we will putting scores in their data folders to see if they improved. Our goal is that all students improve!

Don’t forget, no school Monday!

Enjoy your 3day weekend!

We <3 Science!

Dear Parents and Family members,

For our field trip last week we went to the Science Center! We had an amazing time! We started our trip by watching an engineering show. During the show the chairs were moving and we got sprayed with water! Did you know, engineer is the Latin word for cleverness? We learned engineers work with cars, white water rafters and space robots. The second part of our trip we got to go to the dome and see an imax movie. The movie was called The Mysteries of the Unseen World. In the movie we learned about light waves,  for example flies and bees see things in  infrared light. We saw the tiniest of things that you cannot see with your eyes! The imax made us feel like we were in the movie. After the shows we got to explore the museum. We saw Sue the dinosaur! It was a skeleton of a HUGE T-Rex. We explored electricity. There was also a replica of the Mackinac Bridge! The science center was really fun and we learned so much.

Sincerely,

Room 29

The Chronicles of Narnia

We are almost finished reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe! The students have really enjoyed listening to this story and we are going to watch the movie on Thursday. Please make sure you have returned the permission slip for your student to watch the movie if you want them to do so. This is great way for the students to make connections and compare and contrast different kinds of media. Not to mention, they are VERY excited about it. I know one of my favorite things, even as an adult, is to see books I’ve read as a movie.

Other things coming up this week:

  • Math test Tuesday on clocks and graphs
  • Coupon books went home today (Monday) and are due next Friday. The winning class gets a pizza party!
  • Movie day Thursday!
  • Friday is a half day, we will be having a PBIS assembly 🙂
