Homework Reminder

Good morning,

I wanted to remind everyone of the homework expectations this year. In addition to finishing unfinished class work, students in my class are required to read 30 minutes every week night. Students should be logging this on their October reading log in their Owl folder. Students are also required to do 20 minutes of math practice a night. They can use MobyMax or Khan Academy for their practice. Both of these websites can be accessed through the student page on the Dearborn Schools website. If students miss one or two nights a week I understand, however, if students are consistently not reading or not doing math practice it will count against them.

Thank you for all your support at home,

Miss Wilson

Testing

Good morning,

If your students have not told you the past few weeks have contained a lot of testing! We had 4 NWEA tests to take as well as DRA reading tests. The good news is almost everyone is DONE! We can now get into some serious learning 🙂

This week in reading we will be discussing different genres and the differences between some fiction genres. Then we will begin to talk about historical fiction. In math we will be focusing on writing multi-operation expressions (ex. (20+5) x 4 ) and what they mean.

Excited for a great week!

Miss Wilson

First week!

Wow! What a great week! It was so great to meet all of the fifth graders! We had a busy week establishing routines and expectations and we even got started on Daily 5. Starting Tuesday we will be switching classes with Mrs. Niner and Mrs. Rachwal daily. Niner will teach writing, Rachwal will do social studies and science and I will be doing math. I can’t wait to get started!

Heres as a few pics from daily 5 today 🙂

During this time I will answer any questions you may have about the trip.

Please remember:

  • Wear comfortable shoes, their is a lot of walking!

MAY PBIS

PBIS Celebrations

Dear Families,

On Tuesday, May 31st we will be having a PBIS celebration to recognize your child’s positive behavior. This month’s celebration theme is All School Picnic! We will be having our picnic outside, so let’s hope the weather stays pleasant!

Your child may bring a towel or blanket to sit on during the picnic, and we strongly encourage students bring a brown bag lunch since we will be eating outside. However, lunch will still be available for purchase in the cafeteria.

Thank you,

Haigh PBIS Committee
