** Valentine’s Party Planning Meeting is schedule for THIS Thursday, January 30th at 3:40 (right after school). Please come with ideas for games and food.**

**Treble Makers, our choir, is meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, January 28th from 3:35-4:30, in the new music room. Parents of Treble Maker Students should pick them up at the fourth grade door at 4:30.**

Math: We are now learning Equivalent Fractions. There will be homework every night, and a homework check on Friday.

Spelling: Week 17, test on Friday

**Reading: New reading homework! Students will be given two articles a week from the Scholastic Magazine to read and answer questions from. This is mandatory homework. It will be a report card grade as homework** In addition, students can read 20 minutes on Raz Kids. This website allows students to read stories and answer questions about that story. It helps students with reading comprehension! Also, you can do iReady through Clever.

Math Quiz Monday

Here are the homework answers from this week’s homework. We do have homework this weekend, pg 23 whole page and pg 24 #2 a,b. The quiz will include 2 labeling fraction problems, 2 drawing and labeling a tape diagram with fractions, and 1 equivalent fraction equation problem. The quiz will have 5 questions and is worth 7 points.

NWEA Announcement: Today was one of our last full days of NWEA testing. We will be going back to our normal schedule tomorrow.

Math: We are starting fractions! There will be a new succeed book and Learn Book coming home. THE OLD BOOKS WILL BE KEPT AT SCHOOL! We need them back, because we will use them again.

Remember we have no school on Monday, January 20th and another Half Day on Tuesday, January 21st.

Students who need to finish the NWEA tests will continue testing on Tuesday!

Homework: Read 20 minutes everyday using Raz Kids or iReady. Also, please go on Zearn to complete Module 5 Lesson 6.

NWEA Announcement

Most students are now taking the Reading NWEA test. Tonight’s homework will be taking prepdog.org Reading Quizzes.

4 things you can do to be prepared for testing:

1. Come into school with a positive attitude
2. Eat breakfast
3. Get a good night sleep
4. Try your best!

Remember we do have a 1/2 day on Friday. Pick up your student at 11:45 a.m. Also, we have no school on Monday, January 20th and another 1/2 Day on Tuesday, January 21st.

NWEA Announcement: We started NWEA Testing this morning. Most students finished the Math NWEA, so tomorrow we will take the Language NWEA. We will be testing every day this week. Please check out the reading homework for resources to prepare your child for the test. The NWEA testing period will start today and end on Friday, January 31st. Math: Zearn to Lesson 4 Module 5. Multiplications facts for 10s and 11’s will be this week. Fact quiz on Friday.

Go to 4th Grade RIT Quizzes and you will see Basic, Proficient, and Advanced quizzes for Reading, Math and Language. Please feel free to take any of these quizzes through the NWEA testing period.

NWEA Testing Next Week

NWEA Testing will start on Monday! We will be testing everyday next week. We will start with the Math NWEA, then go into the Reading NWEA. Remember prepdog.org is a great practice website for both Math and Reading NWEA. The homework for the weekend is the packet that I have given each student. Also, I would have students continue taking prepdog.org quizzes for Math and Reading.

Happy 2020 Room 6 Families!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Winter Break! My recovery is going slowly, but everything seems to be healing well. I will be taking it slow this week to make sure that I am not over doing it. I want to say thank you to all the families that have reach out to me during this recovery. I truly appreciate your kind words and wishes. I have really missed the students during the past 3 weeks.

NWEA Announcement: We will begin the NWEA Testing next week in the morning. Please check out the reading homework for resources to prepare your child for the test.
