I have included some optional activities as well, that will keep you active longer. I know many of you don’t have equipment, I will try to post in the coming weeks, videos of throwing and catching and things we were planning on doing. Do not go play away from the house by yourself. Much of this can be done at home. Please print the finished sheet, have a parent or guardian sign it, and bring it in with you to school the Monday after Spring Break. If this break goes longer, I will add additional lines and keep posting. If you do not have a printer, email the document to me: peeches@dearbornschools.org
The last week has definitely brought many changes to our home life and your student’s schooling. It has been a large adjustment for all families, students, and teachers. Within the last 24 hours there has been 2 different statements released by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) office and Governor Whitmer. The MDE released a statement saying that online practice or “remote learning” will not count towards instructional time. Later in the evening, Governor Whitmer released the letter below, which states that the MDE’s statement does not mean that work being done during the mandated school closing will not count towards grades, credits, or graduation. See Governor Whitmer’s Letter by clicking here.
During the next 2 weeks, Haigh’s staff will continue to share out content practice on their classroom blogs, through class Dojo, or via email. Our Specials staff will also be sharing out items for Art, Physical Education, Technology, Media, and Music. These suggested practice items allow your student to build comprehension towards the Common Core standards and help prepare for the next grade level. Your students and our staff have all worked very hard this year and we hope that you can utilize these enrichment activities at home. As a parent, please do not feel that you have to teach all these items to your students. Our teachers have shared resources that our students have been using all school year and have confidence with: Google Classroom, RAZ Kids, Math Seeds, I-Learn, Eureka Math, and blueprints for writing (depending on the grade level). Please do not hesitate to email your classroom teacher or Specials teacher with any questions that you may have. Our staff is still working the same hours 8:35am-3:30pm each day and are available to answer your questions. Working as a team we can continue to prepare your student for the next level with their education!
Chrome books – the last day for any Haigh student to receive a Chromebook will be Tuesday, March 24th from 9:00am-12:00pm. We can only hand out 1 Chromebook per family. Any family that is interested needs to complete the survey below in order to receive a Chromebook on Tuesday. The deadline to complete this survey is tomorrow(Sunday the 22nd of March at 9:00pm). This survey provides us with the number of Chromebooks that our volunteers will need to clean and prep. We are very pleased to be able to offer this technology for your families! Overall, the most important thing is for our families to stay safe and healthy during this time away from Haigh. Thank you for all that you do for your children! Please let us know if we can help in any way 🙂
Please complete the survey below together. This survey is our way for the 4th Grade Teachers to check in on our families during online learning. It also serves as a check list of assignments that should have been completed by today. If you did not complete the assignments, then please take the time over the weekend to complete them before Monday.
Thank you parents and students for all your hard work this week!

In an effort to help us prepare for any contingencies regarding the Coronavirus, please take a moment to complete the following survey regarding your access to technology at home. This is a school wide survey so we are asking that families with multiple students enrolled only provide the name of their oldest child on this survey. These results are confidential to the school and will be shared with the necessary classroom and resource teachers and administrators only. Please complete this survey as early as possible. Thank you.
