Homework and Reminders:

Reading: 30 minutes a night along with filling out the reading log. Please remember to sign your student’s log before they turn it in on Friday!

Math: Math Page everyday. This week we are working on subtraction across zeros and word problems. The Unit 2 Test is on November 3rd!

Spelling: Use the Get to 30 Menu to complete spelling homework. Students do have time during on Daily 5 stations to get this part of homework done.

Homework Packets are due TOMORROW! Please have all math pages, reading log, and spelling activities completed.

There will be a spelling and academic vocabulary test tomorrow.

In math, students will have a quick quiz on addition and subtraction strategies: partial sums, regrouping addition and subtraction, and adding and subtracting on a number line. You can enter any of theses keywords into Google to find videos about those strategies.

Also, students will be taking their 2 minutes fact assessment. Students are working hard to get those multiplication facts down!

Students are bringing home a study guide for a short 5 point quiz on Lines, Line Segments, Rays, Parallel Lines and Perpendicular Lines. Please review this topic with your student tonight.

Students may start bringing headphones to school to use for our daily 5 work stations and math workshop. Students have accounts to Google Classroom, Readworks, Reading Eggs, Math Seeds, and Frontrow.

Math: The Math Packet and multiplication cards are coming home today. Each student is responsible for studying their set of multiplication cards every night, and bringing them back to school every day. There will be a fact quiz every friday along with a mini assessment based on what we are learning that week. This will help me find out which students need extra support on the standards that we are learning about.

**Topics we are learning in math: Subtraction, Addition, Place Value, Expanded Form, and Comparing Numbers (less than, greater than, and equal to)

Spelling: Get to 30 menu is printed in their homework packet. Students will have time during Daily 5 to complete their spelling for the day, but if they do not complete it, then students will finish the activity at home.

**** Halloween Party: Thank you parents for the monetary donations for the holiday parties throughout the year. I will be using some funds to buy supplies for the craft and the STEM activity that we will be doing during our party. Our classroom party will be in the afternoon. I will be asking for parents to donate food and drinks for our party. Please watch out for a note home, email or blog post in the next 2 weeks with a sign up for donations.
