What We Did During Our Week:

Reading and Writing:

We have been working on learning about facts and opinions. From this, we are tying it into our science unit on seasons. We talked about facts about seasons, and then our opinion on things we like to do in each season. We then wrote opinion papers on their favorite season and why tying in both facts and opinions!

They have also learned how to read with a friend. This is a technique that can be used at home. Every few pages of reading aloud, stop and the reader asks, โ€œwhat did you hear?โ€ and then the listener retells the story.

Math:

1st grade math – they are finishing up with module 1, a study guide went home and we will be taking their end of module test next week!

Kindergarten math – we are almost done with module 2 for math. They have been learning about shapes, both 2D and 3D (solid shapes).

Science:

We are learning about the seasons and soon we will move into shadows and the moon.
