Information about the Annual Sock Hop Family Dance
Update from Mr. Harvey (Gym)
Greeting Flyers Family,
I would like to update you regarding our Kids Heart Challenge that ended on March 1st. With your support we have raised $10,850 for the American Heart Association this year. Amazing work!
Even though our donation window is closed for this school year, we still have one more week to sign up online and take the challenge for a stronger and healthier life. I am encouraging all of our students to “Take the Challenge”, choose water over sugary drinks, exercise for 60 minutes daily or do a kind deed daily. It is free to sign up, and students will receive a glow in the dark wristband for their dedication to a healthy lifestyle. If we can get 50% of our student population here at Lindbergh to Take the Challenge, we will be able to receive an additional $500 to purchase new PE equipment for the students to enjoy! We are only 5 students away! The deadline to register and/or raise donations for the American Heart Association is Friday, March 8th. Let’s all get healthier together!
Jump online, take the Challenge and be a Heart Hero!

Thank you so much for supporting healthy habits and the American Heart Association!
Mr. Harvey

We have practiced reading, listening, and writing the long vowels a,i, and o so far. We are also working on narratives in writing. We practiced using a 3-part picture plan to help us write 3-sentence or more stores. We also began practicing adding titles to our pieces of writing. Keep writing at home as one of the Literacy options for homework. Make sure the children are stretching out the sounds they hear. Make sure reading bags and spelling notebooks are coming home nightly!
Math/Science/Social Studies In Math, we are working on the concept of addition by using number bonds. Our goal is to complete lessons 5-9 this week. Module 4 books should be home already so you can make sure you are completing the homework daily. In science, we are talking about weather! This is a very exciting topic and I am proud of how much Kindergarten knows already! We have also been discussing changes in weather from morning temperatures to afternoon temperatures. You can discuss at home why temperature changes throughout the day and what might cause the temperature to warm up in the afternoon. In Social Studies, we are still completing our map unit. We have learned about our classroom, school, and community. This week, we are learning about our state and our country. We are working on terms such as model, key, symbols, and direction.

I am not sending a new dipragh packet home this week. We are going to work on qu and this will all be done in class.
Please remind your child to bring their reading bags and spelling notebooks home nightly. I am reminding them as we pack to go home, but some are getting left behind. Make sure to give a daily reminder so we can finally get into our new routine!
Volunteer Needed!!
We are updating our data boards in the hallway and I would like to do a quick individual assessment this week with how high we can count. If anyone is available to volunteer to come in and listen to some of our Kindergartener’s count, the help would be much appreciated! Please e-mail me if you are available.
News 2/18/19
News We are trying to accomplish as much as we can with another short week! Hopefully soon, we will start feeling back to our normal routine. Reading bags and spelling notebooks should be going home nightly. I will not send a reading book home unless the bags are at school. We use community books and need to make sure they are kept safe and return back to school! Please check this week- books should be coming home:)
Language Arts- Please continue to have your child complete their nightly literacy recording sheets. I collect them every Monday! Spelling tests are turning out great! Please make sure to not only practice the pattern at home, but the personal words as well. We will continue now to have tests every FRIDAY. Spelling notebooks should be returned to school daily for practice at school. You will notice I am marking scores on the spelling tests. I do not mark wrong for capital letters. Please make sure to practice letter reversals at home (for example, b/d). I will start marking those wrong because it changes the word. Keep up the good spelling practice!!
Math/Science/Social Studies- In math, we are wrapping up the unit on comparing sets. Please use words like fewer and more than at home to review! Details about our next math assessment will be posted soon. In Science this week we will be building shade structures! In Social Studies, we are continuing to learn about neighborhoods and maps. Please keep working on learning home phone numbers and addresses– Kindergarten should know this by the end of the unit!
