News 5-13-19

Thank you so much parents for making teacher’s appreciation week so special! 🙂 I loved all of the little surprises and the big gift basket that I received on Friday! It is great to be apart of Lindbergh’s team!!

Reminders: There is a late start this Wednesday!

 

Language Arts: We are reviewing characters, setting, and events in a story again this week. It would be helpful at home after your child reads, to ask them who the characters are in the story, what is the setting, and what events took place (beginning, middle, end). In writing, we are finishing the year writing narratives. This week we are focusing on choosing a topic and brainstorming ideas of our narrative piece! Please keep practicing sight words and personal words at home! Practice making a complete sentence at home too! 

Math/Science/Social Studies: We are working on Module 5 Lessons 8-12 this week. You should have the homework already for this module, please let me know if you do not! The other module book (4) was sent home. Students do not need to keep these in their backpacks! You may take them out, practice any missing pages, or do what you’d like with them! 🙂 The pages that are incomplete in Module 4, we either did them together or did not have time to get to them! In science, we are growing lima beans and discussing the parts of the plant. In social studies, we are working on public issues. By the end of the week, we will pick a class issue and brainstorm ways on how to solve it.

They can write about what they did in school, family time, friends, practices, ect. Goals include capital letters at the start of the sentence only, punctuation at the end, spaces, and details in the writing. We should be at about 2-3 sentences on 1 topic.

Important Updates: There is a note coming home about Teacher Appreciation Week today!

Tuesday– Wear your teacher’s favorite color: Blue
Wednesday- Wear your teachers favorite team: Michigan State or Red Wings:)

 

Language Arts: We are reviewing characters, setting, and events in a story. At home volunteer needed!

We just got done with our animal research reports in Kindergarten. Every student has 3 sentences each. I was seeing if any parent (need 1 or 2) would be available to type the reports with the template I send you and send them to school so students can publish! Any parents that are willing to type up some sentences at home, please let me know! I am planning to send the reports home by Friday so a volunteer could have the weekend!

News 4/29/19

Thank you everyone who was involved with Muffins for Moms- it turned out great!!:)

Important Updates: This week, I will be doing a lot of reading assessments. This means, I may not be able to see all reading groups this week and update reading bags. Please continue to practice books already in the bags this week and practice the new spelling words.

** Tonight there is a chance for parents to chat with the superintendent at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria!

Language Arts: We are working on comparing and contrasting two non-fiction texts using a venn diagram again this week. We focused on comparing beavers last week and we will focus on comparing and contrasting bats this week. In writing, we will begin writing narratives this week and review making complete sentences. Please keep practicing sight words and personal words at home! Please practice making a complete sentence at home too! This will help them a lot this week!!

Math/Science/Social Studies: We are finishing Module 4, assessing, and starting Module 5 lessons 1-2 by the end of the week! In science, we are moving on to plants! We will be discussing what plants need, plants in different environments, and making plan observations. In social studies, we will be learning about leaders, ballots, and U.S. symbols.

News 4-22-19

We have all of our supplies for Muffins for Moms. Thank you for all of your generous donations!

Reminders: Muffins for Moms is this Thursday from 9-10. We will start in our classrooms first and then head to the cafeteria! See you then!

** Please make sure your child is completing their nightly literacy homework and returning it colored and signed on Mondays. It is a very important step in order to prepare them for first grade.

Language Arts: We are working on comparing and contrasting two non-fiction texts using a venn diagram this week. In writing, we have completed our animal research reports and we are taking the time this week to do some writing for Mother’s Day. Please keep practicing sight words and personal words at home!  

Math/Science/Social Studies: We will be doing lessons 35-40 this week in math. We are still decomposing with number bonds. Please continue to do the nightly homework that follows each lesson. You can access the Eureka math website or use the parent tip sheet to help if needed.
In science, we are starting a new unit. We will be learning about living/non-living things. This week we will learn about wetland animals and what they need to survive. In social studies, we will be moving into our last unit. This unit is all about public issues. We will be learning about citizens this week.

News 4-15-19

Reminders: Dads- we still need some more supplies for Muffins for Moms that is coming up! I have a volunteer bringing napkins, but we still need plates, water, and juice! ( I am making the muffins) Please let me know if you can bring any of these items in!

Spelling test will be on Thursday this week since we do not have school on Friday.

I sent out a note on class dojo, but I am looking for volunteers tomorrow at 10:15 for a writing activity. If you can make it, please let me know! We need all the help we can get!

I will need some parent volunteers to come in a couple of days to assist in the researching process. Please reach out to me if you are interested/available. Please keep practicing sight words and personal words at home!

Hi Parents!

This week, we will begin our animal research reports! We will be reading/researching on Tuesday– if you are available to come in for about 30-40 minutes to help, please let me know! The more help we can get, the better!!!

Muffins for Moms is Coming up!

Moms, please join us in our mom celebration on Thursday, April 25th from 9-10 a.m.  We will have a special presentation for you in our class followed by yummy muffins in the cafeteria.  Due to the importance of this event for your child, siblings are not allowed.  This is a special hour for you and your child.  Please sign in on the office sheet and meet outside our classroom by 8:55 that day.  Dads, we will be in need of a few things for that day.  If you are able to assist, please send your donations by Tuesday, April 23rd, and reply to his post to avoid duplicates.  Formal invitations will be coming out tomorrow. Please cut the bottom portion and return the R.S.V.P.  as soon as possible. Thank you and see you then!
