We had a great week back from break. Here is a look at our week this week:
Important Information: We are starting Winter NWEA testing. I will also be doing DRA reading assessments during the next few weeks as well. I still plan to meet with reading groups, however, it may not be as frequent for the next couple of weeks.
Here is our tentative schedule for testing:
NWEA Math- Tuesday: 1/14 Make up day: Thursday: 1/16
NWEA Reading- Wednesday 1/22 Make up day: Thursday 1/23
**It is extremely important that if your child is missing school for any reason to please let me know ahead of time so I can plan accordingly.**
ELA/Writing: We are continuing to start our Informational Writing Unit. We are working on comparing and contrasting Koalas and Frogs this week with two different informational articles. In ELA, we are using different graphic organizers to help us record information/key details in an informational text.
Math: A lot of students are starting to master to concept of long division and I am so proud! I gave them a quick “check for understanding” on Friday and put a score at the top the show them where they are at. It says Quiz at the top, but this was not for a grade. This week we are learning lessons 20-22.
Science/ Social Studies: In Social Studies, we are wrapping up our Human Geography Unit by discussing public issues concerning. We will review on Wednesday together and take the Unit Test on Thursday. We will be talking about the study guide all this week even before the review day. In Science, we have finished our first sound mystery. We are going to begin another mystery on sound with exploring waves and vibrations.
