Happy Monday! Here is a look at what we are learning today:

**Please check the Sunday calendar- there is no school Friday or next Monday for Memorial Day and no assignments will be posted on those days**

Writing

-Turn in your Informational final copy about the president you chose! It is due today!! Next, we are going to be working on a Digital Memory Book for narrative writing! More details tomorrow:)

Math

-We are only doing math two times this week. Monday and Wednesday. Today we are skipping Lesson 18 and going into Lesson 19. It is adding or subtracting fractions within word problems. You can use any strategy that is helpful!

1. Read the Readworks Article: Miss Johnson’s Plant Experiment
2. Answer the questions. You can have one redo. Due by Thursday!

Social Studies

-Normally I do Social Studies on Tuesday and Thursday (opposite of math) to help space out the assignments. However, this week I am going to do Social Studies on Monday and Wednesday. Thursday is going to be a “check up” kind of day with assignments.
Assignment:
1. We are learning about the role of price and competition. Think about the words scarcity, choice, and opportunity cost that you have already learned so far.

Happy Wednesday! Here is a look at today:

Writing:

-Now that you have finished you did your research and finished the 3 parts about the president you have chosen, you will be typing the final copy!
Assignment:
1. Watch the videos about informational writing
2. Look at the typed example “President Taft”
3. Type your final copy using the facts you found! Each section is a paragraph (early life, presidency, after the presidency) which will be 3 paragraphs
**There still needs to be an introduction. 4 paragraphs total!
This is due by Monday.

Math:

We are going Module 5 Lesson 16 today. This is a BIG new concept!! Adding and subtracting fractions. The key rule to remember throughout this lesson is that if the denominators are the same just add or subtract the numerator and leave the denominator the same.
There is a little section today that says to turn a fraction into a mixed number if it is improper.

Reading

-Today for reading, I will be reading the next part of Wonder and asking questions. After the reading, students will have some questions to answer on their own and turn in! If you cannot make the read aloud at 12:30, I will record it and you can watch it that way.

We are doing our virtual readings on a new thing called Big Blue Button. Directions on how to join will be on Google Classroom today if you haven’t joined yet. If you have already joined, you just go to iLearn and click on Virtual Session Hull!

Science

-Today you will be doing a new mystery about the human eye! It is called What do people who are blind see?
Assignment:

Happy Monday Everyone! Here is a look at today:

Big Blue Button: This is a new platform that the district is using to do video lessons/chats with students. I did the training this past week and I would like to try it this week with students! Students do have to enroll in order to have access, here is how to do it:
1. Go to dearbornschools.org
2. Go to the Student Portal
3. Click the iLearn Classrooms icon. It looks like this (highlight in orange)

4. Students may have to login again using their school’s username and password (this is how they would login to their chromebooks)
5. Once on iLearn, you will see a box that says ENROLLMENT CODE at the very top.
6. Students need to type in our class enrollment code: htezzz
7. They will be enrolled in my course and will see a link called Virtual Sessions Hull under the Big Blue Button topic. That is how they will join our video chats! It works the same as Google Hangouts/Meets.

Students cannot join the session until I am in. We will do our sessions on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. I will put more information on Tuesday that you need to know. Try to enroll in the iLearn course by Tuesday please. Let me know if you have troubles!

Writing

-We are still working on our president informational writing. You have done the EARLY LIFE section and I have returned it back to you. Next step was to do the PRESIDENCY section.
Assignment:
1. Turn in the DOC with the PRESIDENCY section all done about your president.
2. I will return the DOC to you.
3. Tuesday you will get started on the AFTER LIFE section. That will be due Wednesday.

Math

-We are learning lesson 15 today: Find common units to compare fractions.  The goal is to change the bottom (denominator) to the same number in order to add and subtract easily. Please watch the WHOLE video to help you- I would even recommend watching the Eureka video too. This is a BIG fraction concept for students to understand.
Assignment:
1. Eureka video. It is optional to try the homework while watching and check with the answer key.

-This week we are not doing a Readworks article, instead- I have assigned a whole class book on Raz Kids called: Who Likes Lemonade. It ties in so nicely with that we learned last week in Social Studies. Students need to read and do the quiz by Friday. The goal is to get a 8 out of 10 or higher. You can keep retaking as long as you need! This will be due Friday.

If you forget how to login or access Raz Kids- here is how:

2. Type in my name: MrsHull207 (no spaces). You do not need to do this every time.
3. Find your name. Type in your password: 1234
4. Go to assignments at the bottom of your screen to find the book.

If it works, we can start doing the Wonder story again together on Tuesday and Thursday at 12:30. If it does not work well, I will just keep sending out recorded readings.

Assignment:
1. Look at the slideshow. **Make sure to answer the few questions on the slide show**
2. Make up your own story on “My circular flow of money” DOC. You have $20 and you are going to have it travel to 5 different places and how it ends up back to you! Be creative!! This will be due Monday.
