Good Morning Everyone!

I am posting the assignments for today on the blog and anything that needs to be turned in on Google Classroom, so check both! There will be a lot of information (I apologize!), but I want to be very clear and thorough, so please make sure to read everything! I will also give a weekly outline so you can plan and know what is expected for the rest of the week. I will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today for any questions/assistance.

Spelling

This week, continue to practice Week 24 spelling words, since we did not test on Friday and did not have much time to practice at school. You can find the list on SpellingCity and most students have a paper copy of the list in their blue folders. Spelling City Click the link to access Spelling City or you can get to it through Clever.
Assignments:
1. I will post a spelling practice page on Google Classroom. Students will type sentences using their spelling words and turn it in to me. Due: Wednesday
2. Students can also pick one game on SpellingCity and play it as practice. This does not have to be turned into me.
3. Spelling Test– There will be a spelling test that opens up on Friday on Spelling City. It plays the audio of the word and students type all 15 words and then submit it on Spelling City. Due: Friday

Writing

We will continue with our compare and contrast essays that we have been writing in our classroom about the three branches of government. It is okay if you did not come to school to pick up your writing folder, you can still do everything you need with the resources I have on here. In school, we have already read the two articles, picked two branches to compare and contrast, and record information on a Venn Diagram. If you do not have all of these things at home, I have posted them below.

There is also a video to watch to get more information on the three branches.

Assignments:
There will be nothing due for writing until Friday. However, I will be be posting everyday about writing so you can see what a good pace is for everyday.
1. Today, students should fill out the similarities and differences box on the Blueprint I am attaching below. Students need to find three similarities and three differences. They also need to find text evidence for their reasons. Students know how to do this! We have done two other examples of this together on different topics and have kept them in our writing folder to help us. I am also posting a student example of what it looks like (The student example is from the topic when we compared and contrasted Martin Luther King and Ruby Bridges). Please reach out to me if you need help with this part of writing.

2. By Friday, students will complete their whole blueprint and then type their 5 paragraph essays based on the prompt I give. That is what they will turn it- nothing else! I will lead you every step of the way! Today is just filling out the similarities and differences.

Reading

Students will have some sort of story to read every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday along with questions to submit to me. Usually, I will be using the site Readworks. Students know how to get on this- they do it every week!
Assignments:
1. Read the story on Readworks called Siblings and answer the questions Due: Tuesday (I assign Readworks on Google Classroom, that is where you can find it)

*Reading Group information* I will still have reading groups read their stories and do work. However, while we are adjusting this week the expectations is just to read still 25 minutes nightly and on Friday I will post reading group work assignments for each reading group I have.

Assignments:
1. The mid-module review that students have received before this time off, will still be due when we return to school. If you need a copy, I will attached one below.

2. Today, students will be learning Lesson 8 in Module 4. First, they need to watch the Lesson 8 video. Then, they need to try to homework page FIRST. This is out of order from the normal of what we do in school. I will have the answer page for the homework up so students can check. THEN, students will do the problem set. Once the problem set is done, students will take a picture of it and send it to me. Due: Tuesday
Students can send the picture to my email at hullj@dearbornschools.org
