Hope everyone had a restful weekend! Thank you to everyone who was involved in my surprise “bridal shower” at school! I won’t be at school for a half day this Thursday, a full day Friday, and a full day the next Monday (10/7) for my wedding. I do have a familiar face to the building coming to sub for those days and our schedule should move smoothly like always!
Here is a look at our week:
ELA/Writing: In reading, we are starting to form reading groups, work on strategies, and practice more Daily 5 rotations. In writing, we are working on finishing our rough drafts for our personal narratives. We will then move on to revising and editing our stories!
Spelling: Our spelling tests will be on Friday. (Unless there is a short week/ days off). You can always find our words on SpellingCity weekly for extra practice. Students have been graphing their spelling progress in their LIM Binders and the tests are sent home graded on Mondays.
Week 5:
1. today
2. ache
3. estimate
4. phrase
5. trade
6. parade
7. became
8. arcade
9. education
10. glacier
11. region
12. climate
13. features
14. direction
15. Midwest
Math: We will be getting back our Mid-Module assessment back this week. We graph them in our LIM Binder and they are sent home. Since this is our first big test so far, I would like you to sign the tests when we see them and send them back to school. We will be working on Modules 11-13 this week. We are moving into addition and subtraction! Make sure to encourage your child to practice Zearn at home, especially if we have no assigned math homework at night. We do some Zearn at school, but most students are behind on lessons right now.
Science/ Social Studies: In science, we are creating our rollercoasters this week. We are observing how height and energy relate. In Social Studies, we are observing and identifying special purpose maps. We will also be sharing our human characteristic presentations.
