We all want our children to be word detectives. Here’s a fun way to encourage your child to analyze words while also building sight word vocabulary.
I’m Thinking of a Word – sight word game
-Have your child take out their sight word bag.
-Place the sight words in front of you.
-Select a word and give a clue so your child can “find” the word.
Some clues you may use are:
- I’m thinking of a word that has two letters and starts with the letter u. (sight word: up)
- I’m thinking of a word that has three letters and starts like the word cat. (sight word: bat)
- I’m thinking of a word that has four letters and rhymes with hook. (sight word: look)
