At parent conferences a lot of conversations about reading crop up and parents often ask for book suggestions. We know that children are NOT a number so giving parents levels to check out isn’t a great place to start. A reader’s interests and knowledge about subjects greatly changes the readability levels of text. When parents ask for titles, a good place for an educator to look is a site aptly entitled The Best Children’s Books.
This site gives suggestions for a wide variety of books at different reading levels. Hint: gather the list of titles for the parent but leave off the levels!
Happy reading!
