Read alouds are very beneficial to our children’s growth as readers. When we read aloud we are sharing our love of reading and sending the message that reading is important. We are also modeling phrased and fluent reading which is essential for comprehension. It is also important to note that our children are able to comprehend difficult texts when they are read aloud. What a great way to get your child thinking about books that they are not yet able to read independently. I highly recommend that you read aloud to your child every evening…no matter how old he/she is!
