Hello!
Smith has been my home since I began my journey as a teacher almost six years ago. Throughout my years here, I have taught a writing enrichment class, both 7th and 8th grade Social Studies, and 8th grade Language Arts. I am excited to be teaching 6th grade for the first time this year and exploring the world with all of you.
I graduated from Michigan State in 2013 with a degree in English and a minor in History. Reading, writing, and exploring the many perspectives offered around the world is my passion, and sharing this love by teaching social studies is endlessly enjoyable.
In 2017, I began to pursue my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Eastern Michigan.
My family are a great inspiration to me. Throughout my life, both of my parents and my older sister have helped me develop a deep respect of learning, diversity, and serving my community. Over the last year, our family has grown with the birth of my nephew. We are all learning a new joy in the world we live in today and respect for the future we hope to raise him in.
I live with my own small family: my cats, Jamie and Jayla, and my dog, Sophie. I’m sure many of you will hear more about them over the year.
Going into the 2019-2020, I am looking forward to learning about all of you and exploring the world together in World Geography.
Let’s go, Vikings!
