I have been an artist for over 25 years, my main focus has been in illustration and comic art style. I have been teaching for 5 years, I have my degrees from Wayne State University both in BFA( Bachelor of Fine and Preforming Arts, and a MAT( Masters of Art and Teaching) . I believe that art can close the gap in communication where words can't be spoken art takes over. The success and exploration art allows students to achieve breeds confidence and joy that will carry over to other aspects in life.

Animation happens with a Flip
STEM( STEAM) ART 7th Grade made flip book animations this year. After a lot of effort and hard work each students created amazing mini animation, and finally filming their short movie.
Art show is rescheduled

December 13, 2017 Mini art show at Stem
On December 13th there will be a small art show before our band concert showcasing a few of the projects we have been working on this year. It will be from 5:30 pm until 6:00 pm. We have drawings, animation, mosaics plus more.. located in the Stem middle school.
Free Preschool
Attention: Families with Preschool age children who are 4 years of age by December 1, 2017. There is an immediate possibility of free full day preschool beginning in January 2018 in the Dearborn Public Schools (next month). The family must be eligible based on risk factors and not currently enrolled in a GSRP program. If interested, families may pick up an application at the Cotter Early Childhood Center, 13020 Osborn or call Nadia Berry at 313-827-6150.

Sketchbooks are due
After the long weekend I have decided to give all my classes a few more days on the sketchbook, all sketchbooks are due by Friday Dec 1st 2017 !!!!

Art forms this week in from Stem and Ace
This week our 8th grade will be working with Quilling. Quilling is a technique made from winding or rolling paper into a coil, then letting it unwind a bit and stylize it. Here are some links that will show a few ideas when making certain coils.

7th grade is working on Finalizing their Flip book animation, I am hoping to have them each film and produce a mini movie, the flip book will show movement from frame( card to card).
6th grade has been working on two point perspective. moving forward from one point to two point, the challenge becomes more difficult. The images become more life like and realistic. They have been working on building landscapes. Below is my example of how two point can be used to create more than a just buildings but also apply into more ideas.
ACE is creating Mosaics. Mosaics are created from tiny pieces of tile or paper, for safety reasons in class we will be using construction paper, due to the fact that glass tile can be very ridged and sharp edged that can cause cuts.
