Immerse yourself in photography this summer!

Middle and high school students will learn the art of photography during a 1-week summer camp (cameras provided by AANM), designed to help students share stories about their lives, community and culture, using elements of social justice and empowerment. This year’s theme is about home and community – what does home look like for you? With the help of local, expert photographers, students will narrate and document their reality through photography and develop skills in composition, lighting, composition and storytelling. The curriculum includes: visual presentations, photographic challenges, discussions, critiques, guest artist visits and daily field trips around metro Detroit.
Bring a bag lunch and get ready to take in the photographic scenes around metro Detroit! There will be a pizza celebration on the last day. Students’ work will be celebrated in the Museum’s annual Student Photography Exhibition.

Author:

I have been an artist for over 25 years, my main focus has been in illustration and comic art style. I have been teaching for 5 years, I have my degrees from Wayne State University both in BFA( Bachelor of Fine and Preforming Arts, and a MAT( Masters of Art and Teaching) . I believe that art can close the gap in communication where words can't be spoken art takes over. The success and exploration art allows students to achieve breeds confidence and joy that will carry over to other aspects in life.
