This month, we will celebrate reading month.

Children will be practicing strategies to improve their reading skills.

Please encourage your child to read every day-even on the weekends!

WIDA Testing Continues This Week!

Dear Parents,

This week, the second graders are finishing their WIDA testing.

This test measures how well your child can read, write, listen, and speak in the English language.

Dear Parents,

It is already week 16 of second grade! The children have been working very hard every day!

Please remember that all students should be reading close to a level 19-20. If you aren’t sure what level your child is reading, please talk to your child’s teacher.

They should be rereading their books every night as well as practicing on Exact Path on a nightly basis.

Please remember there is a late start this Wednesday, December 12. School starts at 9:35am.

Thank you,

The Second Grade Teachers

A Few Reminders!

Hello Parents,

Just a few reminders:

Please make sure your child is reading their books in their reading bag for 20 minutes or more every night. It is part of their daily homework!

Also, remind them to practice on Exact Path and Zearn (math). These are excellent websites from the district that will help your child on the NWEA test at the end of January.

As always, thank you for your supporting your child’s education!

Welcome Back!

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving vacation!

In another four weeks, it will be Christmas vacation! This year is flying by very quickly!

This week at Maples School, we have a parent meeting at 9am in the cafeteria.

Also, please send a healthy snack with your child on Monday.

Usually, there is no snack cooler on the first day back from a vacation.

Thank you!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow is our Second Grade Thanksgiving Feast! If your child hasn’t paid $8.00 yet, please send the money by tomorrow. The teachers will be taking pictures and posting them on Dojo.

This week is a very short learning week. There will be no spelling words. Over the Thanksgiving vacation, please have your child read all of their books in their reading bag and practice on Exact Path and Zearn for at least 20 minutes daily.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

The Second Grade Teachers
