Dear Parents,
This Friday, October 25th, Maples will be having their yearly “Walk or Bike to School Day!”
As an incentive to encourage students to walk or bike to school on Friday, we will be offering a class reward!
The class that has the most walkers will receive a free gym class.
Safeties will be passing out stickers to students as they cross their posts in the morning.
Please encourage your child to get moving and walk to school on Friday!

Usernames and passwords should be located in your child’s planner.
These computer programs have been purchased by the district.
They are customized according to your child’s NWEA score .
They supply extra practice for your child’s education!

Picture Day is this Wednesday, October 9. If you are ordering pictures, please make sure to send the correct amount of money.
This Friday, October 11, there will be a half day of school. Dismissal will be at 11:45 a.m.

Dear Parents,
Please check your child’s planner for their Fall 2019 NWEA scores.
Second graders at this time should be scoring a 183 in Math and 182 in Reading.
In a few weeks, the students will start using a customized computer program called Exact Path.
Students will be receiving a username and password soon.
This program will provide extra practice for the next NWEA test in January 2020.
After they are finished with their written homework, they should practice 20 minutes every night.

Your second grader should be receiving homework .
They will be assigned math and spelling practice on a nightly basis.
Please make sure to check their homework and sign their planner every night.

The second graders started off the new school year with excitement and motivation!
Last week was spent getting to know their classmates and procedures of the classroom.
This week, we will be starting math and spelling.
Please check your child’s homework folder every night for notes and homework.
Also, don’t forget to send snacks everyday. The students work very hard and need brain power!
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

Dear Parents,
There are a few reminders for this week:
1. We will be going on our end of the year picnic on Tuesday! We will be at Ford Woods Park from 10:00-1:00.
2. All second graders will have summer homework to complete.
Ms. Shajira, our assistant principal, will be explaining the summer homework expectations for all students this week.
3. The PTA will be having a Father’s Day Sale on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in the cafeteria during lunch time.
