Week 12 – 11/12-11/16

Hello! Below is what we are working on for the week of November 12-16th.

Daily 5 – The book for this week is A Turkey for Thanksgiving. We are continuing to work on CAFE strategies and phonics skills during our mini lessons.

Our sight words are: is, it, in.

Math – We will be completing lessons 25-28. The homework pages are 99,103,107,111.

Writing – This week we are working on narrative writing. Thisweek we are writing about a time that we wanted something.

Social Studies – We are working on goods and services.

*A signup will be on Dojo from your classroom teacher. Please check this in regards to our Thanksgiving Feast. The feast will be on November 20th.

Week 11 – 11/5-11/9

Hello! Below is what we are working on this week.

Daily 5 – We are working on rhyming, syllables, initial sounds, and CAFÉ strategies that match with our read aloud for the week. The book for this week is There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Turkey

Our sight words are: my, here.

Math – We are working on writing out numbers and will be focusing on ways to make 7 and 8. The homework pages are 87, 88,91,92,95.

Writing – This week we are working on narrative writing. This week we are writing about what we like about ourselves.

Social Studies – We are working on Needs and Wants. We will be discussing and sorting things that we need, and things that we want.

Important Dates:
Tuesday 11/6 – NO SCHOOL – Election Day

Wednesday 11/7 – PTA meeting @ 9:00am

Thursday 11/8 – Parent Nutrition Class 9:15-10:45

Friday 11/9 – School Picture Retakes

 

*PTA will be having the school store open the first Wednesday of each month. They will be selling stationary items and the cost will range from $0.25-$4.00.

Week 10 – 10/29-11/2

Hello! Below is what we are working on this week.

Daily 5 – We are working on rhyming, syllables, and CAFÉ strategies that match with our read aloud for the week. The book for this week is Room on a Broom.
Our sight words are be, and, pink.

Math – We are working on Module 1 and have started to focus on counting and recognizing numbers 0-10. This week we will be finishing lesson 18 and starting lesson 19. The homework pages are 75, 79, 83, and 84.

Writing – This week we are working on narrative writing. This week we are writing about what we want to be for Halloween.

Social Studies – We are working on our unit titled “Who am I?” This unit talks about how we are each unique and have roles.

Important Dates:

Monday 10/29 – Trunk or Treat 5:00-7:00pm

Wednesday 10/31 – Halloween Party

Thursday 11/1 – Parent nutrition class 9:15-10:45

Friday 11/2 – ½ day for students 11:45 dismissal and PTA pizza sale.

Week 9 – 10/22-10/26

Hello! Below is what we are working on this week.

Daily 5 – We are working on rhyming, syllables, and CAFÉ strategies that match with our read aloud for the week. The book for this week is The Little Old Lady who was Not Afraid of Anything.

Our sight words are can, we, black.

Math – We are working on Module 1 and have started to focus on counting and recognizing numbers 0-10. This week we will start the second half of the module. Homework for this week will be module 1 lessons 17 and 18.

Writing – This week we are working on opinion writing. Our topic for the week is what our favorite candy is. We are also continuing to learn how to use the word because in our writing.

Social Studies – We on working on learning about what is fair.

Week 8 October 15-19

Hello! Below is what we are working on this week.

Daily 5 – We are working on rhyming, syllables, and CAFEstrategies that match with our read aloud for the week. This weeksbook is There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat.

Our sight words are me, you, white.

Math – We are working on Module 1 and have started to focus oncounting and recognizing numbers 0-10. In addition we areworking on how to make 3. We have started to use the + and =signs.

Writing – We are finishing up our apple writing and will be movingonto opinion writing. This week our prompt will be if we likeHalloween. We will also be learning about how to use the wordbecause.

Science – We have started to learn about physical science and areworking on learning about pushes and pulls.

Q and U Wedding

Dear Families,

On Friday we will be celebrating the end of ABC Bootcamp!!! We will be doing this by celebrating the wedding of Q and U.

If you are able to, we are looking for donations of juice boxes and small plates for the kindergarten classes. If you are able to donate please let your child’s teacher know.

Week 7 – October 8-12

Hello! Below is what we are working on this week.

Thank you to everyone who is sending the homework pictures on Dojo!

Daily 5 – We are continuing our work on read to self, work on writing, word work, and listen to reading. For our read alouds we are working on sequencing and retelling a story. We have also been working on rhyming.

The letters for the week are Q, U, X, and Y. This is our last week for the ABC Bootcamp!!! We will be having the wedding of Q and U on Friday.

Our sight words are for, look, yellow.

Math – We are working on Module 1 and have started to focus on counting and recognizing numbers 0-10. In addition we are working on hidden pairs and how to make 3.

Writing – We are working on narrative writing. We are learning how to use description words. This weeks focus is on “My apple is ______. My apple tastes _____.”

Science – We have started to learn about physical science and are working on learning about pushes and pulls.

Important Dates:
Wednesday October 10 – Walk or Bike to school (your child can earn a brag tag for participating!)
Thursday October 11 – Family Game Night/PTA Bake Sale 5:00-6:00
Friday October 12 – Half Day, Dismissal is at 11:45. PTA pizza sale.

Week 6 – October 1st – 5th

Hello! Welcome to the first week of October. Below is what we are working on this week.

Hello! I cannot believe that it is already our fifth week of school.Below you will find what we are working on this week.

Please make sure to turn in your child’s picture money if you are purchasing pictures!!!

Daily 5 – We are still introducing the different choices during Daily 5. These include read to self, work on writing, word work, and listen to reading.
The letters for the week are V, Z, B, and L.
Our sight words are I, like, purple.

Math – We are working on Module 1 and have started to focus on counting and recognizing numbers 0-10.

Writing – We are working on narrative writing. This weeks focus ison “I am responsible when…”

Science – We started our first science unit this week. We are learning about “what is a scientist?” and our 5 senses.
