Monday, March 16th Activities

We practice a letter a week at school, so I am going to review the letter we’ve already done this year so that hopefully they don’t lose anything they’ve learned this year. They are used to this, and they do well with the consistency of repetition. Hopefully you will get to see how smart, funny, talented, and kind your child is. The first few days they may resist a bit, because it is new. Stick with it, and tell them Mrs. Manwell said they need to do it.

Please feel free to share pictures of your child earning at home either via the facebook group, or remind if you don’t want to post more publicly.

Literacy Activities

Letter F f

  1. Go on a letter hunt around your house.
  2. Look at magazines and have your child either circle or cut out the letters they find.
  3. Go on a letter hunt outside for some fresh air! Look at license plates, signs and street signs to find the letter for today.
  4. Read a book with your child and have them find the letter of the day throughout the book.
  5. Watch these two videos for letter review and the letter of the day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36IBDpTRVNE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT5Rzwj1xdw

Hi everyone! I am letting you know that I will be posting plans every night for the next day. I am suggesting a schedule so that the kids have a routine every day just like they would in the classroom. Use as much of it as you like. I am trying to give you different ideas so that you don’t hear, “I’m bored.” They’ll get excited to see what new activity they get to do each day. Please send any pictures or videos of your kids doing the activities, I would love to see them! Please join our Facebook group that I’ve created to share the ideas each day. You can also post pictures or videos so we can all see what everyone else is doing.

We had a very busy week of learning. We did patterns, letter work, graphing and a special trip to the library. Enjoy your week off with your children. We will see you all on February 24th!

We had the children work on their fine motor skills and math skills this week. While they had to use their fine motor to put cereal on a string they also made a pattern with two colors.

Wonderful week of learning

We had an exciting week this week. We finally got some snow. The kids wanted to make a snowman soo bad. Razanzahra and a few other students were able to make mini snowmen. We also started to explore the school for Social Studies to talk about where things are located and explore the different areas that they are very curious about. Ms. Jamie, the cafeteria manager let us see where they prepare all of our wonderful food and even let us check out the freezer. Boy they look cold!

Razanzahra built a little snowman.
The kids now know where they keep our food frozen! Brrr.

Literacy Parent Meeting

We had soo many wonderful parents and children come to the meeting yesterday. Mrs. Baydoun and I gave each parent the results of their child’s letter testing and was able to chat with each parent about the progress of their child. Parents seemed to really enjoy seeing their child participate in the different activities with them. I appreciated the parents involvement with their child and giving them some great one on one time. The next meeting will be February 27th!
