Week of April 20th

It was so nice to talk to everyone last week! Mrs. Baydoun and I are waiting patiently to be allowed to come to your houses and do a porch drop-off. Anything you requested we will be dropping off along with packets of work and some other surprises. If everyone stays home and does their part then it will be soon! I hope you continue to be safe. Starting this week I have added a schedule of “work time” which the kids are use to at school and will give you a good hour of time for them to play independently and be creative! It’s meant to give the kids something familiar for them to use in their day. If you have any questions about it please let me know. Feel free to do this during the time of day that best fits your schedules with your other children.

 Work Time

10:00-10:10Or 5 to 10 MinutesPlan for Work Time (playtime):  Build your child’s ability to organize their time by having them make a “plan” with you about what they would like to play with.  Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Adults make plans all the time to organize their thoughts (shopping lists are made before going to the grocery store, to do lists are made to help plan your day etc..).
Kids will tell you what they are planning to do/want to play with/how they will use toys at home.
10:10-11:10or1 hr.Worktime/Kids play WITHOUT ELECTRONICS  Kids can use toys to pretend play, build, and create.
11:10-11:25or15 minClean Up:  Kids clean up the mess they have made while playing.
11:25-11:35or5 to 10 min Recall:  Build your child’s memory of events by having your child tell you what they did while they played (ask “tell me how you did that” or “what did you do next?”)
LunchPrepare lunch: have your child help you prepare lunch.  They can help with cooking/setting table- whatever seems appropriate for the meal time.

Zoom Meetings

Sadly, because of privacy concerns we are NOT ALLOWED to use zoom for meetings anymore. We are going to use google meets, which can be done on a phone. We will put the kids into smaller groups so it will be easier to do activities with the kids. 16 kids at the same time didn’t work well! Mrs. Baydoun and I are trying to figure out the google meets so we will explain it at the end of the week.
