We are utilizing the Handwriting Without Tears approach. The most important habits to teach children are: holding a pencil/crayon correctly, using the helping hand, and starting your letters at the top. When forming letters, we use small lines, big lines, small curves and big curves. Letter formation is taught using wood pieces, play dough, magnetic stamps, chalk boards, and of course, paper and pencil. The letters are taught in this order:
Ll, Ff, Ee, Hh, Tt, Ii, Uu, Cc, Oo, Qq, Gg, Ss, Jj, Dd, Pp, Bb, Rr, Kk, Aa, Mm, Nn, Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, Zz.
