Daily Expectations:

Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe. Our classrooms are protected environments!  This means that students will respect everyone, treat them kindly and follow the student code of conduct.  All students will participate in the Positive Behavior Intervention System established at Bryant Middle School.  Bully behavior will NOT be tolerated. Our goal is to assist your child in better decision making and hold them accountable for their decisions.

Planners

Students are expected to carry a planner at all times school-wide. They are a part of their identification as a student at Bryant Middle School. If a student is found in the hallway without a planner they will immediately be sent back to class.  Lost planners will need to be replaced at the owner’s expense ($5.00) as soon as possible!

Participation and Grading

Students should arrive to class on time with the materials necessary for success. They are expected to participate daily and complete all assignments on time, including homework. Student work is expected to be neat and demonstrate their best ability. Formative assessments (homework) will represent 20% of their report card grade. Summative assessments  (Tests, quizzes, and projects) represent 80% of a student’s grade.

Grading Scale:

100-99 = A+                  89-88 = B+                    79-78 = C+                    69-68 = D+

98-93 = A                      87-83 = B                      77-73 = C                      67-63 = D

92-90 = A-                     82-80 = B-                     72-70 = C-                     62-60 = D-

                                                                                                                    59-0 = E

Additional Help:

In the event of a test grade below 70%, students may seek additional help to improve their grade. Parents must sign the original (Low) test, before an alternative assignment/project can be completed with course work completed by the student.

Homework

Practicing and reviewing material taught in class is vital to student’s success. Every student should strive to complete classwork/homework assignments on time. Late work should be the exception and not the norm. If late work becomes a pattern, an intervention might be necessary. Late or missing work must be turned before the summative assessment. Late/missing work will not be accepted the last week of the marking period.

Attendance

In order for your child to be as successful as they possibly can be, I encourage them to be present (both physically and mentally) every day to prevent falling behind. Every lesson builds on the day prior so daily attendance and a healthy breakfast are essential. If a student misses a day due to illness (or other excused reason) they need to check the blog for what they missed and see me immediately. Some work can be made up during class, other work will be sent home.

Parent/Student Connect:

Sign up for this invaluable tool immediately! This tool will provide you and your child with a way to monitor progress in class.

Teacher Meetings

Email is the fastest way to get ahold of me!  Families who have a concern must email teachers to set up a parent meeting.  Meetings with parents will be scheduled by appointment only.  Any teacher can organize a meeting after being contacted by the family. Please allow 24-48 hours for a response!
