Rival schools compete for charity in inaugural event
Next Friday, October 16, we’ll be battling Dearborn on the football field. But we’re also taking them on off the field. It’s the “Battle Against Hunger.”
This was a challenge issued to our administrators and student government by School life, and we accepted! The school that collects the most canned and non-perishable food items to donate to Gleaners Food bank wins.
Starting Monday, October 12th, we ask ALL bring canned goods to school and drop them off in the collection boxes at the school entrances. Food donations will be collected all week and at the game NEXT FRIDAY AT DEARBORN HIGH. The winner will be announced at half time of the game.
Fordson is known for its food drives- and this is no exception. Hunger is a pain that hits close to home for many members of our community, and every item or time we spend helping to raise donations is an effort well done.
What can be donated:
*Cans
*Non-perishable food items like rice, pasta, noodles, mashed potatoes, cake mixes…
*Drinks (especially water)
*Money $$$ [each dollar counts as 4 cans]
How collections will happen:
*Food donations will be collected all week each morning at each of the major entrances to school
*Class collections can take place: just email me if you need a box or to collect
*If you are giving incentives for student to donate, please let me know and we can do pick-ups
*We will collect at the game NEXT Friday AT DEARBORN HIGH. The winner will be announced at half time of the game.
