Spelling Bonus Words added this week

The Week 4 words can be found on Spelling City this week. Also each week your child has the spelling list attached inside the blue everyday folder. Please have your child review this week’s words by playing games on Spelling City.  Then have your child take the practice test on Thursday and turn it in on Friday.  You will notice that there are 3 bonus words this week in addition to the hot words and Dolch Words.  The test on Friday will continue to have cold words too.

SpellingCIty and Everyday Math

I hope that your child has had an opportunity to visit the spellingcity.com website to study the spelling this week.  Tomorrow your child needs to turn in his practice test report or certificate to show that the practice test was completed.  We played a game today on spellingcity and it was a great review.

Today I am sending home a letter about our Everyday Math Online website.  It will be an important part of your child’s learning.  I have attached to the letter your child’s log in and password.  Please put the letter and log in information in a safe place for further reference.

Today we played the number grid game in class.  I would like your child to play it tonight.  It can be played with one or two players.

Please encourage your child to play the Everyday Math games often to learn the basic math facts and to support learning from the classroom.

Happy learning!

SpellingCity

Today I am sending home a note with your child about SpellingCity.  It is a website that helps students learn their weekly spelling words and have fun at the same time. Each week I will put up the weekly spelling lists on SpellingCity so that your child can review the words and play spelling games to reinforce the learning.  The free activities include:  Test and Teach, Word Search, Hang Mouse, Word Unscramble, Audio Word Match, and Missing Letter.  Monday through Wednesday have your student play a game.  On Thursday, have your student take the lesson test.  Then print the report or the certificate and turn in on Friday so I know the homework has been completed.  If you don’t have a printer, your child can bring in a note that reports his/her score on the lesson test.

Happy Spelling!

Great attendance for Open House! Paper towel cardboard tubes needed

It was great to see everyone last night.  I know that all of your families are busy, so I appreciate your support.  We are beginning to write numbers from 0-1000.  We are going to be making scrolls so we need paper towel cardboard tubes.  Please send one in with your child asap.  If you have more than one, please send it in as we may need it.
