Thanks for all your hard work typing and pasting for the bare book for the Publishing Center.  Thanks too for sending in an extra printed copy.  There are seven students that need to get the bare book and extra copy  in as soon as possible, so we can do the illustrations and cover before May 9.   We have some creative young authors!

Today your child is bringing home the Unit 9 Review for the Math Test on Monday, May 5.  After your child completes the review, go over it with your child to help with areas that need more practice.  Please sign and return it with your child on Monday.

Thanks for all of your support this week.  It was great to have so many volunteers for our two field trips.  I heard that they both were a success.

Tomorrow we will have Spelling Week 28 test.

Thanks again to the chaperones that went to the Fire Safety Field Trip!  I heard it was great!  And thanks in advance to the chaperones that will be going to the Henry Ford Museum tomorrow, April 30.

Remember to send a lunch with a drink as the students will be eating at the museum.  I suggest sending it in a plastic bag so that everything can be thrown away after lunch and it won’t have to be carried.  It also is a good idea to double bag the lunch as sometimes plastic bags break.  Finally, please label the lunch with your child’s name.

Thanks to everyone that has sent in the typed publishing center book and an additional printed copy of your child’s story.  If you haven’t sent it in, please send both in by this Thursday.  We will be doing the cover and illustrations at school.  Please send in colored pencils for your child as they work great for the book.

This week it is Spelling List 28.  Continue to have your child read at home daily!

Welcome back!  Hope you had a nice break!  Just a reminder that tomorrow is the Fire Safety Field Trip from 12:30-2:30.  A few students still need to get in the permission slip for the smokehouse.  Please return it tomorrow if it isn’t turned in.  Thanks in advance to the parents that are chaperoning.  Please arrive around 12:15 and check into the office.

The students will eat lunch at school before we go, so they may buy a school lunch or bring a lunch as usual.  We will have snack in the morning as usual too.

The Science Review and Science book should be reviewed for the test and turned in on Wed. , April 16 not Mon., April 14.

Your child will bring home a gallon bag with their story and bare book,April 16 The publishing center things are due on April 29.  . The directions are in the bag too.  Your child worked very hard on the story and you will enjoy your child’s creativity.

Next week is a short week and it is busy, so there are no spelling sentences due and reading log and summary will not be assigned for the week.  There will be a Spelling Test on Thursday.

The timeline is due on Tuesday, April 15 and the artifact is for April 16.

Thursday, the students may wear pajamas and give a $1 donation for the PBIS.

We are getting low on tissues and pencils if you would like to send in some to share.

We are studying history in social studies.  Today your child is bringing home a note with an artifact card to fill out for the item that your child brings in on April 16.  Thank you for helping with this project!

Today your child is bringing home the Science Book and review sheets.  The test will be on April 14.  Please return the review and the Science Book C on Monday.

Our class would put an electric sharpener to good use, if you have one that you would like to donate.

Tomorrow is the March Reward.  Your student may wear Tiger gear  and bring a junky snack.

We have two field trip notes coming home today for April 28 and 30.  Please read and return the permission slips for both by April 16.  The  money for the April 30 trip is also due by April 16.

Tomorrow your child will bring home a timeline project for social studies that is due April15.  The information will be sent inside a light blue piece of construction paper.  The paper and the sheets inside will be used for the timeline.  Sign the bottom portion of the Timeline Project letter and return it by April 4.

Today your child is bringing home a summary sheet for the reading log.  The side behind the summary is blank.  Your child is to write the reading log of the books for the week on the blank side.  Please encourage your child to read at least 20 minutes daily.  For the summary, your child needs to  read and summarize one picture book or one chapter from a chapter book that was read during the week.  The log and summary will be do on Thursdays. Please review the written summary with your child and have your child edit his/her writing.  Happy Reading!

This marking period, your student does not need to turn in the Spelling City Practice Test on Friday.  I will continue to post the words each week on Spelling City and I would encourage having your child continue to do the the Spelling City practices and tests.  Instead of collecting the Spelling City, your child needs to write 5 spelling sentences.  The sentences are due on Wednesdays.  They need to each begin with a different word and there should be at least 5 words in each sentence.  All words in the sentences should be spelled correctly.  The handwriting should be neat with proper spaces between the words.  Underline the spelling word in each sentence.  Use correct capitals and punctuation.  This week is Week 24.  The word list should be attached in the homework folder.  If your child has misplaced the  list, it can be found on Spelling City.  Thanks.
