Social Studies Home Project Due on Monday, November 3rd

Your child brought home a letter today about a project to help your child better understand the differences and similarities of the three kinds of communities.  Your child will need 5 or more picture examples for each kind of community.  The pictures may be photographs, magazine pictures, or printed pictures off the computer.  Please keep the letter as a resource as it outlines the expectations for the project.  Thanks for your help and support. Have fun!

Raz Kids and Holiday Boutique Basket

Today your child is bringing home a note about the Raz-Kids website that has leveled books for all types of readers.  There are fiction and non-fiction books and a comprehensive quiz at the end of each book. It would be helpful if each child would contribute $4 for the use of the program for the 2014-15 school year.  Please send the contribution in an envelope with your child’s name and Raz-Kids writtten on it by Friday, October 17th.

Nadia Bazzi, one of our homeroom mothers, sent home a note regarding donations for the basket for the Holiday Boutique.  Our theme is Chocolate.  She would like the item donations turned in by October 25 so that it allows time to purchase items for the basket.   If you have a chocolate item that you would like to donate…. please put it in the office with her name on it.   She has also provided her phone number on the note, if you would like to contact her.

Computer/printer survey and Everyday Math Student Login Letter

Today your child is bringing home two notes.  One note is a survey so that I can learn how many families have access to a computer and printer as your student will need to have printed math homework from the Everyday Math Website.  The other note gives the steps to logging into Everyday Math Online.  I have attached your child’s student login card to that letter.   Please return the survey on Monday, October 13.  Thanks.

Unit 1 Math Test this Friday

Today your student is bringing home the chapter 1 reviews that we worked on in class.  Please have your child complete it all this week and study for the test on Friday.  You will notice that some are short answer questions.  Please look at the short answers and encourage your child to answer using complete sentences and math vocabulary.  Happy studying!

Field trip on September 22

We are looking forward to our Smokehouse field trip on Monday, September 22.  It is in the morning, so please send a snack for your child to have when we return.  We will have lunch at school so your child may get a school lunch or pack a lunch as usual.  Thanks in advance to the parents who are joining us.

It was great seeing so many of the families last night at Open House.  Thanks for coming!
