Today your child is bringing home a note about spelling. The note explains the spelling program and it also introduces you to the Spelling City Website. Each week, I will put our hot and Dolch words for the week on Spelling City for your child to review at home. I suggest that after your child uses it for the first time this week, please bookmark it for use for the year.
We have a district planned field trip for Monday, September 21 to the Smoke House. Your child is bringing home two slips today for your signature. One is permission to go on the trip and the other is permission to be in the Smoke House. Chaperones that have been approved by the district are welcome. Let me know if you are interested.
We will be working on writing our numbers 1-1000 and we will be making scrolls with paper towel tubes. Please send in one for your child. If you have more, please send in more for students who may not have one. Thanks.
We have lunch at 12:30 p.m. each day, so please be sure that your child has breakfast and send in a daily snack. You may send them in for the week on Monday and have your child keep them in the locker, or send one in daily. Our classroom is a nut free zone, so please do not send snacks with nuts.
The family pictures are starting to come in. Please have the picture in by this Wednesday.
We have gym on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so please have your child wear gym shoes on those days.

Thanks for your support!
I’m looking forward to meeting you! We will have a great year!

Some parents asked about things that you can do with your child over the summer. Today your child brought home a reading response log. It has pasted inside the front cover some reading response ideas for fiction and non-fiction books. Also, you may want to have your child join the public library summer reading activities. In addition, please continue to have your child read Raz Kids.
Tomorrow, there will be some items in the report card envelope. There will be a supply list for third grade, NWEA results, and there will be information and directions to login to MobyMax which is a web-based curriculum tailored to your child’s individual needs, and there is information about an online library with over 8000 books called MyOn. I would encourage you to have your child use these resources this summer.

We are looking forward to the ice cream party tomorrow. Thanks in advance to all for the items you will send in. You are welcome to join us around 10:30 a.m. in our classroom!
Tomorrow we will have class in the morning. Please send in a snack as usual. The afternoon will be field day. The PTA provides a lunch of cheese pizza, watermelon, chips, and popsicles. Please have your child have sunscreen on and please send in a water bottle with a spill proof top. We will use the class “lunch bin” for the water bottles, so they can be easily moved from station to station. Our six stations begin at 12:35 and end at 2:30.
