Science Fair,Publishing Center Books, Reminders….

Thanks for all of your support with the Science Fair.  The students did a great job on their projects!  Most students took theirs home last night or today. I have 3 that were left to take home on Monday.

The Publishing Center books will be on display in the media center on May 11, so we are working hard to finish our stories. Each student is writing a realistic fiction story.  As children finish their stories, I will be sending home a gallon bag with the bare book, story, about the author page, and dedication page along with instructions.  Please edit and revise the story with your child before typing and pasting.  Return everything back in the gallon bag by May 7 so that your child can do the cover and illustrations.  Also please send in colored pencils for the illustrations.  Five children took their materials home today.  They were student numbers 11,13,15,18,and 22.  Please keep the materials in a safe place.  As more students finish, they will be sent home.  I  will post which students are taking them home each day so keep checking the backpacks!

Field trip thank you and Read Works

Thanks again to the nine volunteers that joined us on the field trip today!  The boys and girls had a great time and learned some new things about Dearborn’s history. They are each bringing home seeds that they planted while learning about the pioneers being farmers!  In the past, I have had students send me pictures of their big pumpkins, etc.  They are also bringing home information about activities at the museum.Good luck!

We will have another field trip in May.  Details will be coming soon!

A new activity that we are doing for reading is reading articles from Read Works.  This week I assigned six articles about transportation.  After reading each article, your child typed on the computer 2-3 sentences about what was learned.  If your child is not done, your student can do this at home on the computer and count it for the reading log.  The information is as follows:  www.readworks.org/student

Class code:  UFQYXF

Your student knows the password.  Have fun reading!

Thanks for your ongoing support!
