        3.Explain how the quote (evidence) helps to prove the claim (reasoning).

      • Directions: Practice embedding quotes using the following information from the article. Do this on a sheet of loose-leaf and keep with your article. 

        Claim- Students spend too many hours taking state standardized tests.

        Textual Evidence- “A study of 66 big-city school districts finds students spend an average of 20 to 25 hours taking standardized tests each academic year” (Study finds kids must take 112 tests by 12th grade; Obama looks for limits 1).
