Monday– Read Theory- Take Placement test. From now until the end of the semester you will be responsible for taking 10 quizzes per week and passing them with a 70% or higher. You can receive formative extra credit for taking and passing more quizzes each week. You can also earn summative extra credit for increasing your grade level.

We began writing the prequel to The Monkey’s Paw. Students have a plot diagram sheet and a prequel handout. The prequel plot diagram is due on Monday, 11/26.
We facilitated a Socratic circle about The Monkey’s Paw.

Today we did a grade check with students who have below a 70% and gave them a progress report for them to sign. Students have the final opportunity to turn in any missing work for “Tell-Tale Heart”, “The Necklace”, and the “Monkey’s Paw” by Tuesday.. A test retake is being held Monday after school for ” The Tell-Tale Heart. They must have a completed retake form to stay.
This week in class, we’re reading “The Monkey’s Paw” by W.W. Jacobs .
In “The Monkey’s Paw,” a man ignores the warnings of an old friend and makes a wish that brings misery upon his family.
As we read, we will be discussing the themes of Death and Fate & Free Will and Choices as they relate to the text.We are trying to answer these big questions:
“How do people face death?” , “Can we control our fate?”, and ” How do others influence our Choices?”
