Week of March 27th

This week we will be wrapping up our difference maker unit. It has been amazing to hear about how so many people you know are making a difference. Kudos to them!!!! We are excited to hear on Tuesday what plans you have for making a difference or what difference you are already making.

The rest of the week we will be reviewing everything related to language arts. It is time to show us what you’ve got. It is on you as a whole to carry on the legacy of Bryant being the School Of Champions!

Be sure to step- up your game on ready-theory. Bonus extra credit points will be one of your rewards based on the points you earn between now 3/28-4/9. It is vital you show up and practice to continue being a SCHOOL OF CHAMPIONS!

Week of March 3rd

Well that was quite a surprise last week. Fortunately we were able to reschedule our field trip for the play ” Diary of Anne Frank” for this Thursday, March 16th. The theater is actually extending their performance for us to be able to see it! I have sent home a new permission slip to notify you of the change and am asking if you could sign and return it ASAP to confirm.

This week we will continue looking at individual difference makers and organizations that make a difference. They will work on persuading classmates to support an organization that they care about. For homework students are to find a person that they feel makes a difference. I am asking that they look for someone they know personally or to find someone others don’t know. They will share their difference maker next Monday, March 20th.

As always students should be reading at home and working on Read Theory. The notion they don’t have homework is false.

Also due to the power outages :

Read Theory that was assigned March 10-12th will be counted as Bonus Extra Credit.

Card Marking 4 Exit Tickets( for a book finished this card marking) and CM4 Reflection(Literary Letters are due this Wednesday. These are to be completed in your metacognitive log and may go home Tuesday to finish up.

Wednesday is a late-start.

Friday is the last day of Card Marking 4

Field Trip

Due to today’s school closing the field trip scheduled for today is cancelled.

We are hoping to reschedule it for next week!

Stay-tuned for further details.

Be safe today and stay away from any downed power lines.

It’s a great day to catch up on some reading 🙂

Week of March 6

This week we will be working on comparing and contrasting as a way to evaluate different medias for presenting information. The topics we will be exploring are The Civil Rights Movement, The Underground Railroad, and The Holocaust ( students not on field trip) or Anne Frank ( students on field trip). From this we will be making claims and supporting it with evidence and reasons.

Reminder the field trip is this Thursday from 9- 1pm. Students attending need to dress for going out to a play. Thinks of it as going out somewhere nice. Please remember dress should follow the district dress code when choosing your nice outfit. Cell- phones aren’t permitted on the trip. Students will also need to bring their own lunch that day to eat when we return as the cafeteria will be closed.

Students not going will be reporting to Mrs. Mualem when we leave. There they will be completing an alternate assignment so that they can also compare/contrast, evaluate, and make claims with evidence and reasons.

Homework is to read and earn at least 100 points on readtheory.

Finally the end of the marking is approaching next Friday. Students need to have their exit tickets completed by Monday, 13th. Book talks will be done by Wednesday, March 15th.
