This week we will be taking NWEA Language and finishing The Outsiders Chapter 9-12. Remember the link to the book is on last week’s blog if you get behind or need to review.

Homework you should be reading your good-fit book. You should be done with your 2nd book by Tuesday, June 5th.

 

Extra Credit: Read Theory ends this Friday.

Work for Week of May 21

This week we will be taking the NWEA Reading test and reading Chapter 7-10  of The Outsiders. Students remember your visual interpretation project” Nothing Gold Can Stay ” is due Thursday. If you finish early feel free to turn it in for 2 extra credit points. Be sure you are reading your good fit book at home.  Exit Tickets are due in a few weeks.

No School Friday and Monday for Memorial Day

Week of May 14th

This week you will be reading Chapter 4-7 of The Outsiders and adding to your booklet. We will continue to look at characterization and plot by focusing on conflicts, stereotypes and causes and effects. We will also examine the poem ” Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Robert Frost.

On Friday there will be a quiz on Chapter 4-7.

Next week we will take the NWEA Reading. To prepare be sure to put some time into Read Theory and get some extra credit points as well.

 

Be sure to be reading your novel.

 

 

Week of April 30th

Monday:  Add to your graphic organizer an example from “Freedom Writers” that supports the theme ” An Individual Can Make A Difference”

Read Theory Extra Credit for April due by midnight ( don’t stay up that late).

Wednesday:  ” What is Normal?” Socratic Circle

Thursday:  The Outsiders Chapter 1 Setting and Characters

Friday:  Exit Ticket for Book 1 Due/

Be sure to continue Reading  and working on Read Theory.

Week of April 23

This week we will wrap up M-Step Testing and  continue to gather evidence  to support the theme: “An Individual Can Make a Difference

By the end of the week you should have gathered 4 examples from texts or media we have read or seen and completed the graphic organizer below.

1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th hr should have their butterfly project done by Wednesday (4th hour complated last week). See google classroom for directions and create something you are proud of.

Homework : READ ( by next Friday you should have completed 1 book and submitted an exit ticket).

Week of April 16

This week we will be taking the M-Step  Language Arts , Science and Social Studies in  1st hour.  It is important that you do your best and that you prepare by getting a good night sleep and having a nutritious breakfast.  Please remember to use the restroom and get a drink if needed prior to coming to class.The tests will take more than 1 hour to complete so each day. When the test is over for the day your regularly held next classes will be held. This means on testing day you definitely won’t have 1st hour class.

 

Homework this week is to read your SSR book. Remember you  should complete the 1st book by the beginning of May.

Due to the power outage the due date for Moby Max Language Test Prep and Book Selfie has been moved to Friday,  April 20. If you live in an area that is still out of power see me by Wednesday to make alternate arrangements.
