Week of Sept. 27

This week we will begin our Unit on “What makes a story effective?”

During this unit you will be analyzing text to determine if they are effective.

You will be creating a claim and backing it up with evidence and reasoning (CER).

You will also analyze how the  word choice of the author (tone) creates the mood.

Monday:  We will create a list of elements needed to make a story effective.

Tuesday: You will create Frayer models of vocabulary words for “The Elevator”

If you are absent here is the list of words, chose 1 row to do.

Wednesday: You will present those words to the class.

Thursday: You will read short story ” The Elevator” on page 31 of our literature book.

Friday: You will write a CER response to the question, ” Is “The Elevator” an effective story?

 

Homework: READ and bring your book to class each day to read as well.

Remember you must complete a book by  October 27th.
