Reading homework

Hello families.
Students are being given “book bags” that should be filled with two books. Homework every night is for students to reads books out of their book bags. However, some students do not have a book bag, but are just putting two books in their backpacks. Those students should also read those books every night for homework.

The homework has been and is at least 20 minutes of reading every night. They should be reading these books.

Garden Clean Up

This event is taking place on October 6. Please consider being a part of the fun 😀

Please join us for an afternoon of garden fun! Come help us prepare for the installation of our new outdoor classroom. We will be clearing out some old growth, making pathways, and planting new plants. Please bring a pair of work gloves for yourself, hand tools, and bulbs or plants! Some ideas for low maintenance plants would be fall bulbs, flowering bushes, or hostas or lilies from your own garden.

We will be planting in a portion of the garden near the track, next to the future home of our outdoor classroom and edible garden.We hope to see you there!

There is a Parent Meeting tomorrow, here is the information:

September 27 (3:45 only) Healthy Community and Playworks

Representatives from Wayne State and Playworks will be on hand to explain the Healthy Community Grant that we are a part of this year and to introduce parents to the Playworks program that is being implemented school wide.

Hello Families! This Thursday (9/13/2018) is Nowlin’s Open House from 6:00 – 7:30 pm! Please be sure to stop by our classroom (Room 24) to get a look around the room that your children are learning in everyday 🙂 I will also have computers set up so that you can sign up for my blog and the ClassDojo. Thanks and I look forwarded to seeing you!

Also, this Friday (9/14/2018) will be a half day for students. Students will have normal arrival time and be dismissed from school at 11:45 am!

Homework

Hello families! I have assigned homework over the weekend, it is Math Lesson #4 in their Math Success books.
**Also, students are expected to read for 20 minutes every night for homework. Thank you 🙂

Book Fair

Greetings! The Book Fair is approaching! Please see below for more information –

The In School Book Fair Opens Monday, 9/10 – Thursday, 9/13.
Student Preview Day is Monday, 9/10. Students will be creating their book wish list at that time. Purchases can be made that day after school until 4 pm.

The Online Fair will run longer. It started Monday, 9/3 and ends Friday, 9/14. Please visit this link if you’d like to beat the lines. Please note: pre-orders for the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid can only be made during the In School Fair.

Book Fair will also be open during Open House from 5:30 – 7:00.

There are pre-order forms for the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid coming out October 30th! All pre-orders will be shipped free of charge to the school, after the release date. You must reserve your copy during the in school fair, you cannot pre-order online.

We will again have teacher book boxes for parents to buy books for their students’ classroom libraries.
