Language meetings

Looking for a parent who is willing to attend two Language meetings at the Dearborn Public Schools Administration building. These meetings will include literacy strategies that will enhance your child’s learning at home. Keep in mind that we would like someone that is active in our school and willing to share the information with other parents (PTA meetings, school meetings, etc). Additionally, if you have young children you will need to arrange childcare. If you are interested please contact your child’s current teacher to reserve a spot. There are only TWO parent slots available so it will be a fist come, first serve basis.
Thank you,

Lincoln Park Skating Center

Hello bandits!
We hope you all had a great time at Fall Fest. We want to send a huge thank you to all of our volunteers and parents who donated items. We couldn’t do it without you.

Let’s keep the costume party train rolling! Join us at Lincoln Park Skating Center on Tuesday October 30th, 6pm-8pm. Tickets are $5 presale or $7 at the door and include admission and skate rental.
NEW THIS YEAR – two lucky winners will receive a birthday party! So put on your best costume and have a night of roller skating fun!

The PTA will be selling skate party tickets after school all week in the lobby. An order form will be going home as well, so keep a lookout for that!

Thank you again for all of your support.

Garden Action Day

Good morning –
Monday (10/15/2018) is our Garden Action Day where the colleges supporting our garden will be here. Every class will be going outside to help with some part of garden rebuild. The classes will be handling all of the work including building, planting and moving. I would like to invite all parents to come to the school during our class’ work time in the garden. Our class is scheduled to go to the garden to help from 10:30 – 11:15. We hope to see our Nowlin community helping get our outdoor classroom and garden in shape for learning. Thank you!

Parent Meeting

Good evening families –

There will be two Parent Meetings on October 18, one at 8:45 amand the other at 3:45 pm. Your child’s math curriculum, Eureka Math, will be the topic at both meetings. We hope you can make it to one!

Reading Homework

Good afternoon

As I said yesterday, students will be responsible to have their reading homework completed every time their reading group meets. I will begin having students write in their assignment books at the end of everyday to write what their homework is and when it is due. This is how I will be holding them accountable for their homework. I will give them reminders about homework during the day, but homework should be completed at home.
Thank you

Homework

Good evening
I want to allow everyone know that I am changing my homework schedule for the year. Students will now have Math homework every single night. They are to do whatever lesson they learned for the day’s homework that night. For example, if they learned Lesson #15 today, they would do Lesson #15 homework tonight and turn it in tomorrow. Homework is found in their SUCCEED Eureka Math books and each child should already have that book at home. The pages are very easy to tear out so they do not need to bring the entire book back to school with them everyday.
Students did Lesson #19 today, however, we ran out of time and could not finish it so there is no Math homework tonight.

Students will also have a new schedule for Reading homework. I have put each student into a Reading Group. I will assign each reading group homework every time I meet with them, not all groups meet every day. The homework will always include reading a set number of pages and a short writing assignment that goes along with whatever reading strategy that your child is working on.

All of these changes will begin tomorrow.
Spelling homework is still always due on Friday but the Math homework will always be due the next day.
The Reading homework will be due on the day I tell your child during their Reading group so I am going to encourage they bring their planners when I meet with each group.
