I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day Weekend! This is also a reminder that students do not have school on Friday (tomorrow) or Monday, May 27. I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend 🙂

Nowlin is hosting a Parent Involvement Meeting this afternoon after school. We have a bunch of useful information for summer activities and engagement for students. The meeting begins at 3:40 in media center. We hope to see you there 🙂

Don’t forget that in collaboration with the PTA, we are offering parent informational meetings every month. Our last parent involvement meeting of the year will take place this Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 8:45 a.m. and at 3:45 p.m. in the media center. Our topic this meeting with be on Summer Safety: Fun Summer Ideas to keep your Child Active, yet Safe. We look forward to seeing those who are able to attend!

Tonight is our last book bingo from 6-7. Concessions will be available for purchase and the book fair will be open.

Tomorrow is a popcorn sale so remember to bring your $.50 for a bag! Money will support the 4th grade field day.

Lastly, Sunday is our Garden day so come up and help us work on making Nowlin’s grounds beautiful from 12-5.

This is a reminder that we will be going on our field trip to Cranbrook this Monday, May 6. Students will need to bring a bagged lunch that can be disposed of after they finish eating.

Garden Day!
May 4th 8:30-4
We will be building planting boxes, cleaning up the front of the building and doing some planting. All families and students are welcome and encouraged to help beautify Nowlin!

Important-
Please take a few minutes to nominate yourself, another parent/friend, or a teacher who you would like to see be on the PTA board next year. Our PTA has the minimum number of board members required by the bylaws and some parentsare either at their term limit or are leaving Nowlin. It would be extremely sad to lose all of the PTA sponsored and planned events, as well as all of the funds they raise every year for things in the building. Many of you are unaware that the PTA has started a bank account for each grade to help cover the costs of 5th-grade camp. Your 4th graders already have 2 years worth of deposits. That is huge for the families who couldn’t afford to send their children otherwise. We have provided classroom rugs, supplies, busses for each grade to go on a field trip, new library books for the media center and classroom, we run book bingos, Fall Fest, Santa Shoppe, donate food for field day, collect food for the less fortunate, buy filtered water drinking stations, handle 5th-grade promotion ceremony and much more! Without enough board members, these things could stop happening. Please consider filling out the following form to keep Nowlin PTA up and running for all Nowlin Families. A nomination does not mean they have to accept, it means we can have a dialog with the person. Thanks, and if you have questions, let a PT Board Member know at our May 1st Election Meeting! Deadline to vote is April 30th, the day before the election. Come to the meeting with your questions, comments, and concerns! We know we can do better and that is why we need new members to join!
